The only way I know it can be done is subscribe to the mobile internet offers from these cell phone companies, where you can browse internet anywhere. I know it is expensive but I don't know any other way.

First things first. Using a router is not forbidden unless you are not the one paying for the internet. If the Apartment is providing the internet than I can understand the rules, even though I don't agree with them ( you are paying the rent)
You can use a router that is NOT wireless and use RJ-45 cables to connect. Or if the apartment provides a router, hence the reason you may not be able to use one, than just get a switch with as many ports as you need and perhaps a few extra for growth.

If there isn't a public WAP (which is a wireless router) that is avaliable for everyones use, then, you're kinda out of luck. You HAVE to have a wireless router somewhere within the area if you're going to be able to access the internet. And, that wireless router must be attached to a modem.
You could try a configuration like this --- broadband modem > hub, but then you've got a collision domain which routers and intelegent switches avoid. With just a couple of hosts, that shouldn't be a problem.

First - exactly where are you moving to that "forbids the use of routers" and for what reasons?
Second - as other posters have said, you can probably get away with setting up the router to not broadcast the SSID and you should be all set.
The only possible reason I can think of having this restriction is if Internet service is provided to you free of charge. Then, since you are not paying for it, you have no rights to adjust the use of the service. If that;s the case, then you may be able to get your own separate service.
There is basically no other valid reason at all for anyone to "forbid" the use of a router. Period.

Forbids Routers ? What kind of crazy communistic apartment building are you moving into? Find a different apartment. Why would you want to live under some crazy rules like that? Who knows what next they will forbid ??
If there are no cameras in your apartment watching if your using a router, use the dang router, your paying the rent.

You need a router to connect to the internet wirelessly. Then the apartment forbids wireless internet. So you will have to go back to wired.

In Canada, landlords can't do that, it's illegal.
You need a wireless router. Period.
Enable WAP AND Hide your SSID and the landlord will never know. It'll be in the router Manual.
