The Lakers have been in the NBA finals 28 times (More than any other team) - They have won 14 times, 9 Times as the LA Lakers and 5 times as the Minneapolis Lakers.

the Los Angeles Lakers/ Minneapolis Lakers got to the NBA finals a record of 28 times with 14 wins and 14 losses.. the first 5 was won by the Minneapolis Lakers in an era where George Mikan is the best player.
The 6th came in at 1972 where chamberlain and west powered the lakers where they hung a record of 33 consecutive wins.
the next 5 came in 1980's where Magic Johnson and jabbar powered the Lakers.
the next 3 came in 2000's where the best inside outside punch of kobe-shaq powered the lakers to three consecutive championships.
the last loss the lakers endured is in the 2004 finals where they bowed to the detroit pistons 4-1.
most of the 14 losses came in the hands of boston celtics w/c had eventually the league record of 16 championship in 19 appearance...
