For people like the moms in Philly that left their kids home and went to the bar, and then the home burned down, and killed all 5 kids? Or for women who kill or abuse their kids? Or crack addicted women. It seems to me that child birth is not a right, rather a privilege. I know it sounds bad, but there are some real bad people out there, and if they have kids, or more kids, they will just hurt them too.

Rights are given to women like this and none to the innocent children. There is something greatly wrong with society that enables women to have one child after another and not be able to support the child except with welfare. I think it would go a long way to sterilize women who have tested positive for crack because usually any children they do have are mentally disabled and end up a burden on the taxpayers to have to take care of. After two children, there should be no more additional welfare given to women who abuse the system. Same thing goes for women who use abortion for a means of birth control. A point was made about men, the same thing for them if they are a dead beat father.

Would you be willing to be the first one in line to be sterilized?
If not, then no. Besides....there has never been forced sterilization on a large scale. That happens in only a few cases for medically necessary reasons or personal choice.

Hmmmmm, it is a human rights issue to most, but when I think of stories like that it does make me wish we had forced sterilization for crack addicts who churn out numerous crack addicted kids and the like....
This is one sensitive issue....

That would be nice. Give people of child-bearing age and ability a psychological screen and an IQ test.

That is ridiculous and can only lead to problems with ethics and violation of freedoms. Who would decide who gets to be sterilized? Everyone would have different criteria. Also, you can't judge someones future parent skills based on their current skills (at least not on a legal scale).
