We would like to tear out all our carpet and have hard wood floors ... the salesman is certain that pergo floors are a waste of money ... our home is about 1200 sq ft what is the price difference. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

first pergo is a name the product is called laminate flooring. ie kleenex to tissue, pergo to laminate. depends if your going to stay in your home and whats right for you. hardwood will increase the value of the house and looks alot better, but it will scratch, fade, and wear over time. laminate is better in those areas, it will never fade or wear, maybe scratch but it would take a whole lot. alot of people have had bad experiences with laminate and swear they would never touch the stuff again. others love it and put it in multiple rooms. all depends on you. if you have small kids or dogs then yes laminate may be better for you. you can find a good laminate for around $3-4 a square foot. most have lifetime warranties against the fading, scratching, and so on. hardwood would probly be a better fit if you dont have the kids or the dogs, that is if your floor wont be taking alot of abuse. im a fan of hardwood, most are for the reason that its timeless and looks beautiful. hardwood starts at around $4 and can get to as much as $10-15 a square foot. hope this helps.

pergo are square wood tiles and they tend to be more expensive than regular wood floors. I don't know what the price difference is, but if you live anywhere near a Lowe's then you shouldn't have any trouble pricing it yourself.

I just realized that I so totally had it wrong. The dude under me has it right in that Pergo is a name brand. I was confusing Pergo with Parquet wood flooring. Sorry.
