Yes, she was a lady, though "I use the term loosely." Means that you imply she's less than a lady. You are using the term without strict standards.

To "use the term loosely" means it is not a totally accurate description. "He's my boyriend (and I use the term loosely) means that he is someone u go out with from time to time but are not really dating. Hope this helps.
