Hi,

Strangely, yes, this can happen. Case in point -- the book entitled "Everything Men Know About Women." The novelty book, meant to be given as a gag gift, was completely blank inside. (Get it? Men know nothing, ha ha ha.)

According to the book jacket, it's a "worldwide best seller," and several sites list the site as being a best-seller. I'm not sure what the actual qualifications for best seller status. Does selling more than 10 copies constitute a best seller? Who the heck knows.

Theoretically it could happen. If J.K. Rowling decided to write a book and the publisher let it out to the media the advanced sales of an unwritten work or "empty book" could happen. If she decided not to write the book it could be a bestseller but no book.

I dunno. Many years ago, when the book "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * (*but were afraid to ask)" was flying off bookstore shelves, someone gave me a blank book with a very similar cover emblazoned "Everything You Always Wanted to Write About"--cute enough idea, and I bet they sold thousands.

I may still have it someplace.

If it's got a good cover, otherwise NO!

How can it? There would be nothing inside, so nothing to judge.
