i had it for a few months now and i got it from a local pet store and it was the only one there. and everytime i go back to that pet store i never see anymore gourami's like it. its a brownish green color with blue stripes, its dorsal and anal fin are brown and blue with orange tips, and its tail is brown and orange with white spots. here is a pic i took of it.

nope its not a dwarf gourami, its about 4 inches now

on the link that abmn left, it looks exactly like the giant gourami on that page except the one i have has different colors

That link is incomplete as well, but judging from that color pattern, my guess is what I call a coral Gourami, sometimes called a flame Gourami as well. If you could post up a better link so I could get a look...

Usually male gouramis are sold at pet stores, but occasionally you'll find a female. They tend to not be as colorful as the males, and tend to be more brown or grey in color-more drab looking. Here's 2 that have the fin markings like you described:

It could also be a color morph, or still young and not showing it's full colors yet as well-the orange could be looking more brown.

If its similar to the picture of the giant gourami how about this, this is the oldest of aquaria fish, and now not often seen

The paradise fish/paradise gourami is rather pugnacious
