No it isn't looked down. There are girls out there in the U.S. (that are NOT mexican) doing the same thing, except you don't hear about it much. It is the same everywhere you go, you think only Mexican girls are promiscuous?....I have seen it both in Mexico and the United States. The American society just hides it i suppose.

No it is not shameful, everybody can get pregnant when they are not married! That is just ignorance, have you seen statistics for the U.S. ?
Its not about culture, since Mexico is Catholic based there are values. However, the U.S is not based on anything or any religion so everybody does what they please; therefore NO VALUES!
Its not like a Mexican girl can only do such acts, by seeing the population growth i assume American girls do the same.
So please quit all that stereotype crap and look around.
No, Mexico is not full of pregnant and drug addict girls, men dont wear sombreros 24/7, people do not get around in donkeys, and no beans is not the only food source in reach.
My next point, abortion.
Thats what american girls do, I have seen MANY cases in which girls "find the easy way out"

Well, you are both right. It is a shame to get pregnant when you are not married, but it does happen. My parents are Mexican, and I can tell you the idea of "What will other people think of us?" is very big in our family and in all the Mexican families I know. When something like this happens, a lot of families get upset and see it as a shame because they start to think what other people will think of their family. On the other hand, family is very important for Mexicans. Sure, they are upset their teenage daughter got pregnant, but once the baby is born they only have eyes for their grandchild.

It all depends. Mexicans are big on family, big! Now and days the values of ones culture has been thrown out the window and that goes for everybody. Mexicans could only hope that their daughter be married before having any children. It was frowned upon and still is with my family but like I said some values are just out the window.

I agree with all the babies being born out of wedlock BUT, yes, family is everything in Mexican culture. They take things like Marriage and Family seriously- as do other cultures of course.

I am Hispanic and in the old culture its true. However, this culture block is the main cause of such a high pregnancy rate among Hispanics because they think that buying a condom is shameful, but when they have sex, which they all do, it comes back to hunt them.

I wouldn't do it, unless you have a supportive family. Don't think his family will take care of you, because they won't. As for the men, they look down on their woman anyways. They think they can treat their woman in anyway, and still expect you to cook, clean and please them. The Mexican Culture is very difficult to deal with. I hope you are Catholic, because they are and they expect you to be. I should know, I am Latina. Thank God I had a white mother! Through the years, I watch my father, my tios and my primos treat their wives like ****. I just hope your bf is NOT an alcoholic, non-working and abusive. GOOD LUCK with Mexicano Culture.

yes it is true. I myself am Hispanic, I knew a girl who got pregnant without being married and her parents wanted nothing to do with her they told her that she was used.
My step dads mom stayed the night with a man and another couple because they were stranded there. Nothing happened and she was forced to marry him. She wasn't even interested in him.
both families are from Mexico.
just because something is looked down upon doesn't always necessarily keep teenagers from doing it.

It is part of the Mexican culture to have lots of children, lots more than they could ever employ or feed, so they send us all their excess illegally. In an overpopulated world, it is a culture that needs to change if Mexico has any hope of survival. We have to stop welcoming in illegal immigrants if our society has any hope of survival.
