Only those who ignore history believe that Islam is a religion of peace. It used the sword to overcome the lands of the ancient near east northern Africa and southern Europe after emerging from the deserts of Arabia. The civilizations there had been prosperous and educated for thousands of years, The Muslim conquest inherited a vast amount of classical learning and happily preserved it for the most part except for the burning of the library in Alexandria. However there seems to be little creative about their whole enterprise. they handed on what they had received but did not do much new. They succeeded in their military endeavors because the Roman civilization that had previously held the area was in the West, overwhelmed by displaced barbarians and the in the East was paralyzed by theological controversies. For one thousand years the Moselms struggled to expand through military power not through conversion. They imposed taxes and levied fines on those people whom they conquered who would not change to Islam. Often the penalties imposed were so severe a change of religion was required even to earn a living. The Crusades which were organized in The 10th century were the Christian response to 500 years of Islamic military expansion.

Wars are always about money. Those that go to war wrap themselves in the flag of nationalism, freedom, religion, etc. while economics are the driving force. While the basis of Christianity is from the gentle teaching of Jesus of Nazareth, you can make quite a case that there are numerous conquests and attempted conquests attributable to avowed Christians, up to and including major church leaders. It doesn't make the religion warlike, just some of those claiming to do its work are. Since the majority of terrorists activities these days claim to be Islamic, many try to tar the entire religion instead of the ones that are committing the acts. Killers are killers regardless of their claimed religious justification.

Well, it is a very old story. Nobody ever says bad things about themselves.
Maybe that was their idea of peace. Putting all the other countries under the rule of islam. As we see today, it doesn't work, just see in iraq the islams killing their own people, including innocent women and children.
Besides, iraq invaded Kuwait when sadam husein. Also, iraq and iran were at war. Definitely it doesn't work

the Ottoman empire collapsed, does that mean that islam collapsed? by your good judgment of the romans and greeks then this ought to be real. they did no longer rule in spain for a a million,000 years! And it did no longer conquer hearts and minds, (the greeks, Spaniards and hindu indians relatively hate you). I shall furnish that throughout the time of many places they have been a blessing, they introduced with them greater effective coaching and a fairer (for the time) legal framework. so if we are onto the greeks, you do comprehend that turkey substitute into initially greek's who the Turks effectively bred out, as with international places like Afghanistan Iran Iraq Pakistan and Bangladesh that have been as quickly as hindu and indian. or the midsection east which substitute into initially christian and the christians fought to get it decrease back. they weren't gained over with their hearts and midns, it substitute into jsut the case that by the time the rulers died off there wastoo little left of what substitute into till now to resturn to familiar. additionally you're finding at it in a incorrect context. the Romans weren't a faith, they have been an empire of persons who have been pagan and later christian, a similar because of the fact the greeks. in simple terms as interior a similar way the ottoman empire substitute into no longer a faith, it substitute into an empire ruled by muslims. besides Islam is designed to slowly positioned on away at a inhabitants till this is maximum persons, that's the hollow purpose of the Dhmiddi, why a muslim women can't marry a non muslim guy yet vic e verso is suitable, why slavery is suitable in islam and so on. don't get me incorrect Islam is a winners faith, it relatively is ruthless in this is skill to alter into the single absolute, yet this does not make it perfect, it makes it ruthless.

Partly because of secular reasons but aslo partly from a misinterpertation in the Koran. The Koran encourages Jihad, holy war. However, most Islamic theologins agree that this is a reference to spiritual warfare, not forcing religion on other individuals. To be more specific in the reasons behind Arabian 'conquest', one must realize that Islam did not come after the conquerers but before. The converted populace often had leaders who retained the old religions, and demanded it of their people. The Islamic conquests were started to give religious freedom to their Muslim brethren, not to spread Islam.

The early caliphates conquered because the people of those territory was being opressed by tyranist rulers. The early caliphates sent diplomats and tried to come to common terms with other rulers before conquering any land.they considered war as the last option.
and in battles only soldiers were killed, not civilians. after they conquered the land they reinforced the rules and laws. The people were happy. no one was forced to accept Islam and the people could live in peace. They wee given the right to practice their own religion and worship their own gods.
For example, muslim ruled spain for 800 years,go to spain now and u will find the majority of spaniards are christians.
