Free speech doesn't mean she has to say bad things.
Free speech DOES mean that she CAN say bad things.
You don't have to agree with what she says, but it is wrong to deny her the right to say it.

She has as much right to say whatever she wants. I like Ann Coulter, but sometime I think she opens her mouth too much. But what about all the slurs that are addressed to Cheney and President Bush? Only liberals are allowed to bad mouth our leaders? I hope not.
In free speech you may say anything you want as long as the words do not incite violence.
Take a good look at the comments made about our leaders in Q/A. Some are really obnoxious.
Like Rodney King said, "why can't we all get along?"
The diatribes by Ann is nothing new in our society. If you could take a look at some old newspapers Ann is a sweetheart. You should see some of the things written and said about Lincoln.

Have you ever heard or read what liberals say about George Bush or most conservatives? George Bush has been called everything from Hitler to a monkey. Conservatives in general have been compared to Nazis. They have been accused of wanting to kick poor people and old people out into the streets. This type of hate speech has been coming from the left wing for years. But all you can see is Ann Coulter?
Sounds like either you have selective hearing or you are a hypocrite.

The right to free speech especially includes speech that one disagrees with and finds odious or despicable.
Because it is dangerous, very dangerous to give government any authority to criminalize any speech. That is the path to tyranny.
And that's not what she said. She said that since she has gotten so much hate because of her gay joke about Edwards, and since liberals had no qualms about wishing Cheney had died in the terrorist attack when he was in Afghanistan, then it would have been better if she had said she wished Edwards was assassinated by terrorists.
Context is important here.

She has the right. Just like Michael Moore, just like any person who says seditious things about our elected representatives. Just like the people who attacked Former President Clinton.
Free speech makes us stronger. What do you think happens to people who act like Ann Coulter or Michael Moore? Do you think people would treat them the same if they didn't have Michael or Ann demonstrating such behavior for us to learn from?
Truth survives free speech. Lies, exaggerations, and sedition don't.

OK before jumping on the I hate Anne Coulter band wagon may be you should watch the entire interview that included that remark, every left wing web site edited it so it looks like she said it should happen , what she was referring to was a remark made by another media person about dick Cheney being killed by a terrorist bomb, Of course people who don't like her will twist it to make her look bad.

Why does everybody even pay interest to Coulter. the only reason that she gets any interest is by technique of the fact she is an anorexic who wears skirts as much as her lulu. everybody can improve her har 2 ft and placed on skirts as much as there. Ann isn't something particular.

WHy do you pay any attention to her in the first place? She's just a person. Taking up space. Running her mouth. Saying outrageous things.
She says such things to raise the ire of those who allow her to.
Personally, I find what she has to say is worthy only of being tossed into a landfill.

your premise is insulting....free speech ok but not if it "hurts" someone? give me a freakin break....and your LIES are hurtful..she was quoting someone and that quote about edwards is being TWISTED and propagandized by you lefties.
Here is my full sentence on "Good Morning America," which the media deceptively truncated, referring to a joke I told about Edwards six months ago that made liberals cry: "But about the same time, you know, Bill Maher was not joking and saying he wished Dick Cheney had been killed in a terrorist attack – so I've learned my lesson: If I'm going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I'll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot."
would you care to take that out of context again with your lies and propaganda? how about bill maher and his EXACT Quote of wishing the VP Dead? you LEFTIES LOVE HATE!!@! air america proves it as well with randy rhodes and shoot the prez bit...funny funny stuff..but when a conservative merely quotes a lefty and jokes and uses the same lingo..it's hate speech! you LEFTY HYPOCRITES! MORE PROOF!

She has the right to free speech. We don't always have to like what people say. You can exercise your freedom to put the newspaper down, turn off the TV or turn off the radio. I am assuming that you are not in the same room with her. If you are exercise your freedom to walk away and not listen.
Also, please be aware that somethings are taken out of context. Get the whole picture before you get too upset.
