I think it is almost arrogant to think that there isn't life on other planets. It is a fact that there are more stars in the sky than there are grains of sand on the whole of planet Earth and each of those stars supports multiple planets and satellites. In turn; the whole universe itself may just be a speck of dust in someones pocket in a another universe which alludes to 'multiverse' theory. Therefore, given the staggering volume of stars and the planets in each system and the possibility of multiple universes - it would be completely insane to think that there are not BILLIONS of planets that have the right component parts to support life of some description. In turn, life in certain environments would have as much chance as turning into what we perceive as intelligent life.
So in summary, it is unbeleivably unlikely that there is no intelligent life elsewhere, it is in fact pretty much mathematically impossible. It would be more rational to take intelligent life elsewhere as an absolute given and then hypothesise on how much intelligent life there is.

Given the extremely unlikely series of accidents the Earth had to undergo in order to produce intelligent life, I'd say that the chance of any particular planet having intelligent life is very slim indeed. However, given the huge number of planets in the universe, I'd say that the chance for extraterrestrial intelligences existing within this universe to be extremely probable.

I believe in the POSSIBILITY of intelligent life on planets other than earth. Anyone who just believes that it has to exist without requiring any proof is not being logical. We have no proof, and even though it seems highly likely, until we actually find some, we cannot say for sure that it does exist.

Yes, but intelligent life is very rare in the universe. So the nearest world may be 1000s of light years away.

It is quite impossible that we are the only intelligent race in space. So there is probably more intelligent life on other planets

nI'm not sure if there is intelligent life on Earth but, if you just look at the odds, unless you are really arrogant the yes, there must be. 100 billion stars in our own galaxy and 100 billion known galaxies that we can see. You do the math.

100's of Billions of billions. (not: billions AND billions). That's how many stars there are in the known universe. The odds per year that molecules can come together under some radioactively chaotic event to form Adenine or Guanine or some form of rudimentary DNA is less than one in a billion, like, very, very small. But, multiply that by the >10E9 star systems and 10E10 years, and the odds looks HUGE that there is life, LOTs of if!

I'd have to believe in intelligent life on Earth first...Seriously though, I think it's possible.
