I've been on Depo for about 3 years. The first 9 months or so were, to be quite blunt, hell. I spotted for nearly the entire time, and my moods felt completely out of control. But I stuck it out, and my body adjusted - I felt more in control of my emotions and my period stopped altogether. I'd say I "spot" maybe once or twice a year now.
I would say that it's hard to tell whether or not you'll be "ok" by August. Each woman reacts differently to birth control - for me it was several months, for other women it was much less...unfortunately the shot is a long-term option and can't be "stopped" like you could the pill or the ring. If you start to have severe problems, call you doc to talk about your options. The shot is definitely not for everyone, but personally, I've come to enjoy it very much.

Unfortunatly Depo can have bad side effects. Well some women quit getting periods, lots of other woman stay on a period the whole time.
If you don't straighten out by the time of your next scheduled shot I would suggest not getting it and finding other means of bc.
Depo is also not good if you think you may want to have a baby in the near future. The shot messes with your system so much that it takes a while for your body to return to normal and able to become pregnant again.

I defintely wouldn't get any more shots! Hard to say if you'll be okay in time for your wedding. I'd call your Doc and explain the situation, maybe he or she can prescibe something to get you stopped. Losing that much blood can't be healthy.
I am firmly against the shot under any circumstances! My daughter took it for two years, and had to get dentures at 25! I shudder to think what kind of shape her bones are in.
Call your doctor asap, and figure out a better birth control option. My daughter has a Mirena IUD now, and is quite happy with it. If you don't intend to start a family for at least 5 years, it's an ideal solution. A shorter term solution might be the pill, diaphram, or all sorts of other options. Good luck!

Run away!
Don't get the shot again. It is poison.
I did not have bleeding that whole time, but I did have a whole lot of negative side affects.
After researching it 1 1/2 years ago, I got OFF the shot. Several class action lawsuits against Pfizer for what this shot does to women as well as all the other horror stories I've heard freaked me out and I got off the shot.
I am on Kariva now and all those horrible side affects are GONE!
Please reconsider getting the shot again. Anything else is better than this shot.
Sure, not all women suffer from it, but a majority do. Enough of a majority for me to get the heck off of it and try to strongly suggest others to not get this shot!

i got the shot may 24 and have been spotting ever since;
i've had headaches everyday, and have been feeling kind down with mood swings! Getting the shot was a BIG mistake! Aug can not get here fast enough. I've had it before and i get back to normal that same month.
Good luck!

i got the depo shot and it was hell...for the 3 months, i had my period off and on for 2 months...i also had extremely bad nausea, so i changed over to the pill and i've been regular and no bad side effects ever since! but you might still have it by august, depending on when you will get your next shot or choose another type of contraception..good luck!

So many doctors say that 25 to 35 days normal. But if your periods are more than 35 you should see a doctor...
