and not because of our wars of aggression, then how come there are never terrorist attacks in Canada? Aren't they a free and Democratic society too?

That's a good question. To say the least, I think it's ridiculous when people say that the Muslims hate us because of our freedom and democracy. Most Muslim countries don't have a history of democracy or of the separation of the secular and religious that many Western countries do. Not only that, but many of them don't want what the Western countries have, either. The Iranian revolution is 1979 is a prime example of this.If anything, the anti-Western sentiment is there, mainly because a lot of Muslims feel that the US and other Western countries pose a threat to them.

I am sure that if the terrorism doesn't stop Canada will get hit also.

The U.S. is the premier democracy that sends so much of it's culture to other countries. The terrorists really resent the Americanization of the Mid-East. They hold us responsible for the decline in spiritual cultures around the world. If you are rich and powerful you get accused of all types of things. So instead of concentrating on improving Islamism in their part of the world (because Arabs don't like fighting other Arabs) they go after the non-Muslim countries. They are on a jihad to conquer the world no matter how long it takes. I am surprised they haven't gone after Spain more because the Spanish kicked them out in 800 AD.

They also understand that if they can disrupt our life in America, again no matter how long it takes) the rest of the countries will fall into line. Their idea of the "Domino Theory."

Islam does not hate us our because of our freedoms. They could care less about our freedoms. They hate that we support Israel and have troops stationed in Muslim countires like Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar. It has absolutely nothing to do with our freedoms. This idiotic contention was uttered by Bush et al. knowing that the Republican core constituents are the only ones dumb enough to believe it and uneducated enough to not already know differently.

America is a large society, and very important to the world's economy. Canada isn't meddling in Middle Eastern affairs, so they won't gain as much by hurting Canada. They hate us because we are free and because we believe differently. It won't ever change.

The only time we had fought in the Mid-east before 9/11 was the Gulf War, and if I remember, Canada had troops there too.

No, islam hates us because we occupy their holy lands, like Mecca and other "Islamic" lands. It also reminds them of the days of colonial rule by The British and Dutch which were very oppressive times for muslims and arabs.

No, they are not. They are disarmed subjects of a totalitarian government who do as they are told; or else. Americans can own and use firearms and speak freely and are called citizens. Without these freedoms the people are SUBJECTS, not citizens.

That is one stated reason, yes.

The reason Canada doesn't suffer attacks is because striking America sends a more powerful message.

What kind of comparison is that? They do not wield the flamboyant lifestyles of the stars or have their society depicted worldwide through movies and other commercial interests. Step back and look at the big picture. Oh, that's right, you're one of 'them' and look through a rose colored Viewmaster.
