I lived in Germany and Holland and they have really balanced rational freedom and security...and they are not out to conquer anyone anymore....we seem to be taking over that role just fine.
I came back to try and make a difference. Green party and Norml member..if we take the drug war away from the authoritarians they will run out of money real quick. The Drug War is the lynch-pin in the whole authoritarian takeover being implemented by the people cheneybush represent and yes it goes back to Nixon through Raygun to today. We need to overthrow the rich and powerful owners of key societal needs...power and transport infrastructure, health care, Energy distribution as well.
the rights compromised so far are the right to an attorney, habeaus corpus, freedom of speech, arrest warrants and surveillance all in the name of terrorism but do not worry they wont use it on non-terrorists so we wont miss those rights....what are you gonna do when the draft is back and you want to help people avoid it or advocate they dodge it or even discuss its legitimacy then you will find that you may be called a terrorist and subject to the effects of those rights you gave up for "security" as the compromises on our freedoms were just for terrorists and you were not a terrorist so why would you miss those rights you were not using

Our world is being corrupted by the military industrial complex - to the point where there is NOWHERE we can escape it. Our only chance is to bring down the MIC before it turns earth into a prison planet of nuclear fallout mutants and a few very wealthy who can afford to live underground for a few generations.

We have to stay and fight for our rights, and take our country back from the elitist hijackers. We must have the patriot act repealed, and abolish the Federal Reserve, the fraudulent 16th amendment, and the IRS, and the Income tax. Replace the income tax with the Fair Tax, and get out of Iraq! These are just a few of the things that will have to change if we want our country to once again be for the people, and by the people! *sm*

At some point in my life---if I'm ever a widow---I'm going to live in either Canada or Ireland. Both are lovely countries, with even lovelier people. And governments that mind their own business.

I don't think it will be too long for the pendulum to swing back the other way. The first act of Congress in 2009 should be to repeal the Patriot Act, which will go a long way towards restoring the freedoms which make America what it is.

Belgium and the Netherlands.Sure they are in the pocket of America when it comes down to it but domestically things are still pretty loose.
We have all the freedoms an American citizen has and more except the right to bear arms,have to admit that.

I would tell you to move to another country, but since I am an American patriot and I know you're one, too, I suggest that you stay behind with some of the rest of us who want to fight the good fight and keep the US from becoming a dictatorship.
