What if we got charged like a cent for every email we sent, I wonder how much money would accumulate, I think either we could use all the money for a global health care program or to eliminate world hunger OR it would stop companies from sending spam, what do you think?

That is a good idea, but with the whole net neutrality issue being on fire, it will make very many angry. Though we pay to connect, one great thing about the internet is that it's free. You can communicate for free. There would be ways around it I believe. For instance, there are some sites where you can send e-mail through their server, etc. so there will always be a way around it.

This would probably be a good idea in theory, but then you get into regulation issues and it isn't very realistic.
Who would regulate and collect? Would corporations have to pay for interoffice emails? Would chat rooms be charged?
In reality, this will never happen.

I think you're onto something there, especially about putting the money to a good use and cutting down on spam, there's so much of it because it's basically free.

Well it would annoy a lot of people, but I'm sure a lot of spam would stop. However most people already pay for e-mail in the way of AOL or other such things.

No! The Internet should continue to be free.
