Figure out the lowest positive number and highest negative numbers that would make this statement true. If you're only dealing with integers, it's 3 and -2. The answer is x = 3 to infinity and -2 to negative infinity. I can't remember the right way to write that mathematically, but I'm sure you do since you were sitting in the class a couple days ago. I haven't been in the classroom for about 3 years now...

If you're dealing with decimals, do the same, just figure out the exact numbers you would need to make the equation true.

Update: Maximilian is on the right track. x>2.3, x<-1.3
I think he just forgot the (-). Almost everyone else is forgetting about the negative side of the equation.

Your suppositions are incorrect.
You solve just as if the sign was '='
2x - 1 > 3.6
Transpose:
2x > 3.6 + 1
Simplify:
2x > 4.6
Reduce:
x > 4.6/2 or |2.3|

first you take the positive value and then solve for x x>2.3
then you make 2x-1 negative and solve for the ineqaulity
x<1.3
i hope this helped

well it is abs 2x-1>3.6
2x-1>3.6
2x>4.6
x>2.3
so the answer has to be grater than 2.3
2x-1= 3.6 2x-1= -2.6
2x= 4.6 2x=-1.6
x=2.3 x= -.8
so the only answer is x>2.3
