I mean, I know what it means. I'm just clueless why people say that. I mean, animals (all kinds) are just as important as people and I don't hear people saying "please help control the Human population by stop having kids" and stuff like that.

btw, yes, I do know that there are some places around the world that require only a couple to have no more than a certain number of kids. And yes, I also understand that there are also lots of unwanted pets. But that's the same with people too.

btw, yes, I do know that there are some places around the world that require only a couple to have no more than a certain number of kids. And yes, I also understand that there are also lots of unwanted pets. But that's the same with people too. I mean, you always see street kids who don't have any homes. So how are pets different from people?

Our Animal Shelters and Humane Societies are full of unwanted cats and dogs because people do not spay and neuter their pets. Those same cats and dogs in Animal Shelters and Humane Societies are more often then not put to sleep (and I don't mean a nap), they are killed. Yes, some Humane Societies do put animals down. Most are euthanized because these institutions do not have the funding to feed and care for these animals indefinitely.
Some people take their unwanted kittens and puppies (and their mamas) and abandon them in places where they think people will pick them up and take them home, but often those same animals, because they are domestic and don't know how to survive, end up dying slow and terrible deaths. Those that do survive create HUGE populations of animals that become wild, who are unhealthy and often carry diseases that can harm other domestic animals and threaten the indigenous wildlife and the balance of that particular ecosystem where they have been dumped.
In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 cats. In six years, one female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 dogs.
Check out these facts:
* Only 1 out of 10 kittens born will be adopted... the remaining 9 will be euthanized.
* Only 1 out of every 12 cats born will ever have a permanent home.
* 800 cats and dogs are euthanized every hour (that is over 7 MILLION cats and dogs each year).
* For every baby born, 45 kittens and puppies are born.
* In order for every cat and dog to have a home, every human being in America would have to own 25.
* The average life span of a cat is 13 years. The average time a person keeps a cat is 3 years.
Educated, compassionate, caring people will spay and neuter their pets if for no other reason than to prevent the needless killings of unwanted animals. After reading the facts above, doesn't it seem wise to spay and neuter?
What's better, controlling populations by preventing pregnancies and unwanted births by spaying and neutering, or controlling populations by killing millions of unwanted animals each year?
It is not fair to them to have the following attitude: At least they were able to experience something of a life.
That would be like saying: At least that kitten had ten weeks of life in that cage, even though it was frightened all the time and didn't get adequate care or love while it was there.
I really hope this helps to clue you in as to why so many people push so hard to get pet owners to spay and neuter their pets.

Animals should be spayed or neutered if they are inside or outside pets. It is obvious because they don't know how to control their sexual urges and there is always the chance that they will get outside (if they are inside pets) and then you have lots of little puppies and kitties running around without homes, and then if they are found by certain people they can be sold to research facilities that test on animals because people get a lot of money from doing this(just a note- did you know that people like this steal pets right out of backyards or if they see them inside they will break in because research facilities pay a lot of money and don't care about animals whether they were somebodys pet or not). This is why you shouldn't support animal testing... sorry a little side tracked. Anyways If you have a cat and they are neutered they are less likely to get in a serious cat fight where they can get injured or even killed. There are also certain health benefits by getting your pet neutered it eliminates the possibility of your animal ever having ovarian or testicular cancer since they will no longer have these organs, there are also certain tumors that are more likely to form if they are not neutered. I also think that the human population should be controlled haha. Thanks for asking.

Hmm... why do individuals think that spaying and neutering is a risk-free and realistic system and are then blown away while their puppy dies considering the fact that it used to be too younger and small to battle the headaches from the surgical procedure or the hypersensitivity it needed to the anethesia? Why do not extra vets warn individuals of the dangers related to surgical procedure? I've noticeable it occur. Could were have shyed away from if they would best waited only a few extra months. I'm now not advocating the "breed a clutter" concept, simply pointing out that this is not the "risk-free and realistic" system you would have me think. I realize higher. Edit: As on your concept of breed much less/undertake extra, that's not always real, as there are individuals in the market that opt for good bred pets instead than the genetic mysteries that come by way of the shelters and can not ever undertake as a consequence. Edit: Perhaps I am bloodless. I like to grasp that I can believe my pets, my peers, my household, and many others. I as soon as purchased a poorly bred puppy. It used to be middle breaking while I needed to do away with it, because it used to be a risk to my household. So excuse me for in need of to hinder that heartache once more. I can not/will not have an animal I can not believe.

They say this b/c there are millions of unwanted and abandoned pets. They get bred and people just drop off kittens and puppies all the time. If people get their animals spayed or neutered then there will be less unwanted and homeless animals around. Also, spaying and neutering your pet can protect their health, including preventing some reproductive cancers.

People say this because there are a lot of irresponsible people in this world that will get pets and continuously let them reproduce and then they don't want to care for them anymore. They drop them off at the local animal shelter, where they are kept for a little while and eventually killed because of overcrowding. There are so many animals that need homes already. I guess they don't say "help control the human population" because we aren't killing our humans after they've been born because of overcrowding and lack of funding. It's unneccessary deaths of animals.

Unfortunately, people can reason and therefore control the number of children born to them. Breeding for animals is instinctual and wholly controlled by hormones. May domesticated animals have 2-10 babies at a time and often no homes can be found. And, the babies grow fast, so the mother doesn't spend 18+ years raising them. The animals are usually ready to breed again in a matter of months.
So honestly, unless you are breeding cats, dogs, or other animals for monetary gain, have your pet fixed!!!

When pets become over populated, there aren't enough people or land for them to be well taken care of. Basically they are just saying, if you can't take care of them, and they aren't wanted, it's better not to put them on earth to start with.
Honestly, we do tell this to humans, think about all the people on birth control, they don't want kids (at the moment). Same concept.

Actually -- in some countries of the world, they do limit human reproduction. And, why do you think birth control and other ways of preventing conception were invented?
The main reason we should limit pets breeding is because there are so many homeless animals and we are ultimately responsible for them. Humans are the caretakers of the planet -- we must do what we can to make it a better place for all of us -- human and animal alike.

Take a trip to your local animal shelter and see how many animals are abandoned by people who don't care for them. Or perhaps look at the kill statistics for your animal shelter(unless they are a no-kill shelter). It is more humane to neuter/spay an animal that is already in this world than to kill one simply for being unwanted.

I do suggest people to stop having children. Have you read some of the Cr*p on here.
However; there are many other benefits to altering your pets. It completely eliminates testiculart cancer which is not only rampant in human men but male dogs.
Im sure you have heard of breast cancer. With each heat cycle a female dog goes through it increases the chances of breast cancer. Spaying early reduces the risk drastically and spaying completely elimantes any risk of ovarian and uterine cancer in your female dog.
Hope that helps
