Why do the typical conservative states have higher abortion rates than the typical liberal states?

The southern bible states have the highest rates of abortion in the country, yet they also tend to be the most conservative states in the country. Why is this? It seems to me that if todays conservatives are opposed to abortion, the rates would be lowest in the bible belt states, and highest in the liberal states. With the exception of California, all of the highest states are in the south and south east or are a traditionally conservative state. Why is this?

Same reason why the Deep South has the highest divorce rates, and the Northeast the lowest. Religion. Too much of it . It poisons their minds and makes them dysfuctional.

Huh? Occurance is 39 per 1000 in California, 26 per 1000 Deleware, 37 in New york.... It is the liberal states with the highest percentage of women having abortions. Can you not read your own statistics?

That's a very interesting statistic. I would venture to guess that it is due to the number of people that are inpoverished and uneducated in those states. Poor, uneducated people are more likely to be desperate enough to get an abortion than rich or middle class people. They are also less likely to give a crap about politics and abortion. Meanwhile, the people that are not getting abortions could still be in the majority and could still lead the state to be more conservative overall. But I am admittedly speculating.

What you need is to poll the people that got the abortions and ask them if they are conservative or liberal. What you fail to realize is that red states aren't made up of just conservatives and vice versa for blue states.

This is very mistaken. I actually did a database using your statistics, dividing up the states by their status as of the 2006 elections. If I did it wrong, please let me know how. The total number of abortions for the three years was three times higher in the democrat states than in the republican ones.

The smallest number of abortions by far was in the neutral states.

Your premise seems mistaken. If you are using old data for your statement, why? Why not more accurate data? Traditional? How would that relate to their present stance and statistic for recent abortions?
