How many of you saw Wilt Chamberlain play?

I ask this because every one says he is so great because of stats I wanna know what was so great about him

What was great about him?....LOL....he scored 100 pts in a game...duh....nobody could guard him him, most dominate player in the history of the game...I have video of him.

Take it from the older people, he was great. His stats prove it. Your question sounds condescending. I don't know if you meant it like that but I mean alot of sports greats played in older eras. Babe Ruth, Yogi Bera, Ty Cobb, Jackie Robinson. Do you doubt their greatness because you never saw them play? Wilt's stats don't say he's great, they just reflect what he did in his career. How many players in the league today can average 50 ppg in a season? 0. The guy was just ahead of his time, thats all. People will make the excuse that there was nobody around to give him competition. Ohh well then take away jordans mvps and rings because from the looks of it the rest of the league didn't give him competition either so why do we give him so much credit for dominating the league? yet we can't give wilt his credit for dominating the league at his time?

I saw him on TV. As I remember he was pretty awesome. When Wilt was playing, he was the first and only 7 foot center in the league. He put consistently up some fantastic numbers. Like MJ, he also wasn't a one man show. Unlike that guy who sometimes scores a lot of points for the Lakers.

I was not just the stats. The paint was his house, you ventured in you had to pay. Probably one of the best if not the best shot blockers and shot intimidators. By far the best rebounder (no one today could match him) He was an extremely athletic 7'1", with great vision and passing ability. Also, the NBA had to change the size of the lane because of Wilt. Jordan, Shaq, Bird, Magic never had that kind of impact.
