Macedonia is one of the nicest provinces of Greece, with interetsing monuments from antiquity and Byzantium. I have been to Thessaloniki, which is a great city, and I have also been to Nymfaio, which is a traditional village near Florina and near a ski centre. I really loved both places. Chalkidiki has wonderful beaches and resorts, and the nature is beautiful too in Macedonia, Northern Greece in general.

Oh Macedonia is my favourite Greek district. Macedonia's biggest town, Thessaloniki is one of my most beloved cities. It is considered the co-capital city of Greece. There are so many wonderful sites for anyone to visit. Interesting by their nature, their Greek History.
Everybody should some time in their life visit Greece and its lovely Macedonia district.

Of course! Macedonia, the kingdom of Alexander the Great is one of the most beautiful areas of Greece, rich in natural beauty, history, and archaeology and great food.
Macedonia is the second largest prefecture in Greece and its capital, Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece. The beautiful Prespa lakes are one of Europes most important bird sanctuaries and Mount Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece. Thessaloniki is rich in culture and is perhaps the most entertaining city in Greece when it comes to nightlife and eating out and is the birthplace of some of Greece's finest musicians and basketball players. The city of Kastoria on lake Orestiada is concidered to be Greece's most beautiful city by the Greeks themselves. The Halkidiki Peninsula with its three prongs of Kassandra, Sithonia and Mount Athos run from crowded tourist resorts to beautiful remote beaches all the way to simple monasticism.
If you are looking for an area to explore, either by car or local bus, or just a place to settle in and get to know the region and its people, then Macedonia will not disappoint you.

Yes, I've been in Macedonia many times, as I graduated from the University of Thessaloniki, where I studied law. Needless to say that It has been my choise to study in Thessaloniki, co-capital of Greece, as I wanted to get some independence from my family which lived in Athens. I still go there for professional reasons, as my Law Office is handling cases all over Greece, Macedonia too....
Thessaloniki is a beautiful city, with great history and important ancient greek, roman and bysantine monuments, while in its museums one can admire pasterpieces of ancient greek art, among them the findings at king Philippos tomb at Vergina (Imathia, region of Macedonia). And from every part of Thessaloniki one can see mount Olympos, the residence of the Greek twelve Gods and Godesses..
Serres is a lovely city as well, Edessa is wondeful with its famous waterfalls, Kavala is really pittoresque and Katerini is a very friendly city...I haven't been to Kastoria, Veroia and Drama, but I'm planning to...
Ofcourse there's also the magnificent peninsula of Chalkidiki, with great natural beauty and Mount Athos Monasteries, which are an immense open museum of Bysantine architecture and art, not to mention the precious monasterial libraries.
I suggest everyone visits Macedonia, this beautiful and historically important part of Greece....
