1. Ravens
2. Bears
3. Patriots

Are people forgetting the Bears are getting back Mike Brown and Tommie Harris, 2 no doubt Pro Bowlers? There is still a chance Lance could play 6-8 games! How are they not top 3 on some of these lists?
Otherwise, you have to include Baltimore. Physical, fast, smart, athletic defenders all over the place. Suggs, Lewis, McAllister, Reed are just some of the names off the top of my head. Even without Thomas they still will be the best defense.
And New England is just a winning team. They are always talented on defense. So is San Diego, but I have N.E. on top of them here simply because of the addition of Adalius Thomas. With their 3-4 defense, they will have Thomas, Bruschi, Vrabel, and Colvin on the linebacking crew...holy crap! Tack on Samuel, Harrison, and Seymour, that's one heck of a defense.

First and foremost it must go to the Baltimore Ravens who have about the same defense as last year except for adaliaus thomas.

Second would have to be the Oakland Raiders who were a top 5 defense last year and have also not lost any key defensive players, if any.

Third would probably be the Patriots they have somewhat revamped an old linebacking core with adding adalius thomas and their new safety should come in handy, and asante samuel still playing this year they are a key defense in the league.

PS. The bears should never be mentioned as the top three defenses for the coming year because they lost a key linebacker in Lance Briggs, they lost a key defensive lineman in Tank Johnson and I have also heard that another defensive lineman is not wanting to play for them. Also Mike Brown is an inconsistent and annually hurt safety who has no durability.

Ravens- 10 of 11 starters from last years top defense returning and the D is stacked with probowlers.

Bears- They make turnovers like crazy, and the only player missing from that defense is the troubled tank johnson, and possibly Briggs if he holds out... but both won't hurt them they have too much talent. The return of impact players on D and the return of a healthy tommie harris (also impact player) will help them a lot.

Patriots- They had a good draft and helped themselves on defense. and they went out and got one of the most versatile players in the NFL in Adaulias Thomas. He will fit perfectly in billichecks scheme, because he knows how to use a players versatility to the teams adavantage.

Well my Colts beat 8 of the top 10 scoring defenses (the only ones they didn't play were #7 San Diego and #9 Carolina) so I got to watch most of the best.

I'm going with:
1) New England (#2 - 14.8 PPG)
2) Baltimore (#1 - 12.6 PPG)
3) Jacksonville (#4 - 17.1 PPG)
