You bet! Plecos love things like lettuce, cucumber, squash of all types, basically anthing out of the produce isle. I would say though stay away from iceburg lettuce, it;s not so great for them, but any other green leafy stuff is good.

No need to cook it or soften it for the plecos though, they have much stronger mouths and better teeth than tadpoles, so I would say just feed it raw and in a fair sized chunk.

Just weight to food down to the bottom when you turn out the lights and remove it in the morning, if they leave anything to remove.

The plecos love zucchini, cucumber, and romaine lettuce. Stay away from iceburg or head lettuce. Is also cheaper than the algae tablets. No need to boil any of it.

You should feed them algae pellets, do NOT feed fish human food, do they find romaine in rivers? NO. Will if kill them? No. Is it good for them. No.

If he ate all the algae already it may be too small of a tank, please know that plecos theoretically never stop growing. 12 inches and longer is very common, I have seen a 3 footer. and NO they will not "stay the same size as the tank"--MYTH!!
: )

hope this helps

Yes, most algae eater needs constant amount of vegetable in their diet. Mostly algae. Try getting some algae wafers for your tank for your plecos.

Yes, or you could just drop in a slice of cucumber, they love that stuff. You don't really need to boil it...
