Hey Sherilynne B,
You are correct, a majority vote is not required to win the election.
But it hasn't happened that often. It has happened 4 times where a candidate wins the electoral vote but does not have more popular votes than his opponent. 1824, 1876, 1888, 2000.
But, 18 times in history the president won the electoral vote but did not receive 50 % of the majority vote.
When people talk about winning the majority vote, they mean having more votes than your opponent. Which has only happened 4 times in our history.

The majority will probably think what if. Most presidents are not elected by the majority of citizens. They are elected usually be the majority of voters.
I believe that whoever is elected will be a breath of fresh air from this administration. But the person elected will be expected to make significant changes in the communication with the citizens and with dealing with congress. Whoever is elected will be under a lot of pressure.

Second....a mysterious relative (with a different last name mind you) will become involved in some sort of major scandal or international incident.
Third....a major drug or weapons dealer will testify that Obama financed 100% of his illegal empire.
Fourth....a youtube video will appear with Obama drinking malt liquor and listening to hip hop music with The Black Panther Party (or some other militant group)
Fifth....a scandal will be ran on the 4 o'clock news claiming that Obama never even graduated high school but got his GED while attending night school part time only on 4th weekend of every other month.
Sixth....some sort illegal substance will mysteriosly appear in his underwear drawer.
Seventh....move over Ms Rice and make room for Al Sharpton.

I think most democrats will like him just for the fact that a democrat won the election. The republicans will most likely view him as democrats do George Bush: someone who's leading the country in the wrong direction. I would be disappointed if he won because he is not experienced when it comes to the executive branch. My vote goes to Bill Richardson or Mike Bloomberg if he chooses to run.

Well I would imagine that they would be happy. If he wins the election I would assume that he received the majority vote.

I will be shocked at the amount of people in this country who have no basic knowledge of economics. Although all recent elections have also shown this fact.

If Obama wins the majority (people who voted for him) will be estatic. The minority (those that didn't) won't like it at all.

I hope he does win. He will bring new ideas and a fresh start to the country. His proposal on making healthcare available for everyone is exciting.
