First question: is the "Kill switch" in the run position?
2nd: were you in gear and/or the side stand down?
The clutch lever has an interlock switch that needs to be engaged, if the clutch lever was pulled ALL the way to the bar and the kill switch is in the operate/ON position you could have a bad switch.
I'll check back later to see if anything comes of this....
Good luck

Check the ignition commponents: ie: spark plugs and wires. Also give the starter a look. The battey is fine if all your lights are on. This sounds like your starter isn't cranking. If you hear nothing when you push the ignition switch. it could be the starter. Also if you stated which year honda you had I would be able to know if you had a choke switch. Try and turn it up before starting it, if you do in fact have one.

Check the battery and connections.
When you turn the key to start does the lights dim, if not then you have a problem with the switch, if they dim, then the battery is probably at fault.
You might try a jumper from the battery to the starter to see if the switch is bad.
