The doctor will likely check you for physical conditions that may cause severe cramping, such as polycystic ovarian syndrome or endometriosis during your appointment. Birth control pills are not only for birth control. Since birth control regulates your hormones, which is what is essentially causing your problems, then you probably will be put on birth control. If you do have a condition causing your severe cramping, such as endometriosis, then taking birth control now may preserve your fertility and raise your chances of having a baby once you are married. Don't be embarassed to take birth control. You and your family know that it's for a medical condition and beyond that, your medical problems are nobody's business. As for a time to take birth control, I found it easiest to take it first thing in the morning.
I took birth control for several years before I got married to correct a medical condition and always thought of it more as hormonal control. It was only after I got married that it became birth control in my mind.

Ask you doctor if you have fibroid tumors growing if so they can take care of it now before any further complications as for myself I get the depo shot to keep my period from coming on at all. I take the Depo for medical reasons there's nothing to be ashamed of you no what you do no matter what anyone else may think that is your decision. God made doctors for a reason if you need the pill take it you don't have to be in pain.

Get some peppermint tea for the cramps and take over the counter herbal water pills to get rid of the bloating they work I feel your pain I've experienced what your going through

Good luck

I was in the same boat about 7 yrs ago. My cramps were SEVERE & my periods were all over the map. My doctor did in fact prescribe birth control & they have helped alot but not totally cured them. If thats the case (birth control prescription), ask for a low dose pill such as Loestrin Fe 1/20, Yazmin 28, or Yaz. Ive tried all of these & they all work fine. However on the days when I still have cramps kinda bad, I take good old Aleve. Advil doesnt work too well for me but everyone's different. Aleve works wonders, in addition to - dont laugh - curling up in the fetal position & lay down - you dont have to go to sleep. Im serious! Also drink some warm tea (I prefer green tea, myself). Or exercise. Ive found that walking in the park around the track or on the treadmill in the gym helps ALOT! It eases the cramps tremendously.
As far as the time you take birth control, thats totally up to you but you HAVE to take it around that same time EVERYDAY. It doesnt have to be right down to the minute but somewhere close. I first started mine at 10:18pm but now, I take my pill anywhere from 8pm - 11:30pm, as long as its somewhere near that time. Dont be embarassed about birth control. That is no ones business but YOURS. It doesnt matter what other people think as long as you are comfortable with it & it serves its purpose of easing your cramps. I say go for it & good luck with that! :-)

I completly obtained off of Sugar, cheese, soda pop, Junk meals and that helped me do away with unhealthy menstral cramps. But that is simply me. It might be distinctive for different's. But for a few of us women soda pop and sugar can intent a ton of bloating and unhealthy menstral cramps. What is helping me that's if you're now not operating is One of the next (now not all of sudden) Valerian Root, Passion Flower, Ginger, or Chamomille. I indexed them from Strongest not to as robust. They do have Chamomille Tea and that can be useful should you love to drink tea. But any such natural dietary supplements perhaps rewarding for you. None of them can healing it, But they definite are very one hundred% rewarding! But only a caution they are going to make you sleepy. At least they did me they usually would possibly make you've gotten an urge for food for meals as good. I believe relying on which one you get you do have got to consume with meals, that is constantly a well thought, with those! Best of good fortune!

Most likely, they would recommend that you take birth control pills to allievate the severe cramping; there is no need to be embarrased. No one has to know but you, and your dad if you decide to tell him that you in fact did start taking it. You might also be asked for a in depth family history to determine if you might be at risk for other diseases where one of the symptoms is severe cramping. Good luck!

yes they will probably give you some kind of birth control to help keep your cramps to a minimum. but they will also do a pap to make sure that it's not more serious than that. don't worry, it's not going to be all that bad, i know you are scared and probably nervous. but it will be better to find out in the long run, rather than wait it out and find out something is really wrong. and your dad WILL understand. =)

That is likely to happen, he or she will prescribe you birth control to begin with, it's the easiest option to start with. You shouldn't be embarrassed, there are many, many women that are on birth control due to regulating irregular periods. It's a medical option for you, not birth control.

They probably will. Tell your dad that alot of women get birth control pills to help ease their cramps and regulate their periods. Tell him that just because you have the pills, it does not mean that you are going to have sex.
