Its all about the cars, and even Michael needs a great car to beat Hamilton.

This is purely conjecture, so it doesn't matter at all, but it's fun anyway. What most of you missed watching Schumacher was that a) he always got everything he could out of an inferior car, and sometimes got a win out of it when nobody else could have, and b) when he was in a clearly superior car, did no more and no less than he needed to win. Hamilton for all his natural ability does not yet (maybe someday he will) have that kind of experience and technical savvy. Schumacher also could be really savage on the track when he needed to be; Hamilton hasn't demonstrated that kind of ruthlessness yet. So I would say that Schumacher probably would very quickly put the boy in his place, assuming he was in a reasonably competitive car.

Hamilton is young, and still has flaws that only expeirence can work out, however...
Schumacher of 2000: That would be one hell of a race
Schumacher of 2005: I think Hamilton would kick the crap outta him.
Hamilton is racing like he has been in F1 for years already, hes done what nobody else has done (8 podiums in a row for his first 8 carrer races). If there still is a lot of upside to him, we could be talking about 5 or 6 years down the road about Hamilton being potentially one of the greatest of all time.

It's difficult to say really.
Sure Schumacher was a damn fine driver, but he still lost races.
Hamilton has the potential to be a damn fine F1 driver, but lack experience.
Schumacher lost races and championships to people who in my opinion weren't great drivers but had great cars.
I think if Hamilton had come into F1 sooner he may have given Schumacher a run for his money.
I don't think it matters. Schumacher has his reputation of being the best driver of the past 15 years. Hamilton has a lot of work ahead of him if he want's the same.
Do I think Hamilton can do it? Well, he could, but there are some damn good drivers on the grid who deserve a break and if they get it I believe they will give Hamilton hell.
Hiedfeld, Kubica and Button take note.....get good cars next year damnit!

I love Schumie; but Hamilton is having an incredible first season; better then Schumie's first season. It will be interesting to see just how well Hamilton does in the years to come.
I really can't say which of these two is the greater because they have never raced together. It really is a vain argument that can not truely be answered unless Schumie gets out on the track and takes Hamilton on.

Schumie would win. He is more talented and he has been doing it for longer. Schumacher raced against some of the best around. Senna, Hill, alonso to name a few. He would figure out a strategey to beat hamilton. It would be close between the two but Schumie would win. You would have to be an idiot to think otherwise. Experience does count for something.
Besides, with the exeption of Alonso, most of the drivers this year have not performed consistently. Raikkonen only had his 2nd win of the year last week in france.

Hey, have you gone mad. Since more and more talented drivers are joining F1 Schumacher has lost his lustre. If Schumacher races now, he will just be a useless load for Ferrari and F1. I think your view towards Hamilton will change when he has won more championships than Schumi. At that time he will be your Schumacher.

It's hard to say. For sure, Michael is an F1 legend and considered the most successful F1 driver in history. Meanwhile, Lewis appears to be a highly talented rookie- winning two races already and this is only his first year in F1! But no doubt he has been fantastic and really impressive.
If Michael was still racing, I think he probably would be able to beat Lewis. However it'll be a stiff competition. But I think Michael will beat him because he has far more experience and I believe he has much more mental strength than Lewis. He has always been able to deal with any situations or criticisms hurled at him. He has always been very patient and optimistic even when Alonso was challenging him for the championship title.
Besides, in the first place, no one should ever compare Michael and Lewis. Lewis is very good, amazing and impressive but Michael is so much more than that. Michael has been in F1 for many, many years while Lewis has only been in it less than a year.

Assuming that Schumi's performance hasn't waned since the retirement, and that he is still faster than his team mate Massa by two tenths of a second, he would give the McLarens a run for their money. Two tenths would give you that little extra chance of a front row grid position. Schumi's in-laps and out-laps were quite something, and I don't think Massa is as good as MS in that department (as we saw in Magny Cours).
Kick the hell out of Hamilton? Maybe not. But Ferrari would have a few more points on the board than they do now.

I think he can. If he was driving this year's Ferrari, he would be leading or very near the lead of the drivers' .
Schu "struggled" last year because Ferrari could not give him a consistently fast car in the first-half of the season. His engine failure ruined him in Japan. Ferrari let Schu down last year.
I am astounded by what some of you F1 newbies say with such conviction! Someone said, "Michael was not as perfect as Hamilton is." God damn ridiculous. How can anyone say Hamilton is perfect after 8 races in the fastest car?

It's all based on the talent and the setup of the cars. Both Michael and Lewis are gifted drivers, but Lewis has the advantage because he has done things that Michael has never done. Both Lewis and Michael are competing at the Race of Champions in the winter so u will be able to see for yourself. (Of course, this isn't F1, but it'll still be interesting!)
