The Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy - Douglas Adams

Some books are old friends:

All the books by E Annie Proulx I've read more than once, The Shipping News 7 or 8 times. It's great, and to think that if I hadn't been given the book as a present, I would never have discovered what a great writer she is ...

The same with books by Joanna Harris, all of those I've read at least twice, with the exception of Sleep Pale Sister and The Lollipop Shoes.

Marion Keyes. All many times because it's like I'm actually talking to friends, that's how vivid her dialogue is.

Walter Macken. Because his prose is so beautiful.

All the Harry Potter books that have come out so far. Do I have to say why? I think the answer to that is obvious ... they are simply wonderful.

I love to read, but don't read many books more than once because I have pretty good memory and the second time around usually just gets boring, but I do have to say I have read The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin probably six or seven times. It's a mystery so you catch something new every time and its so well written and humorous that it is still engaging. It can be read for a basic understanding around the 4th or 5th grade level but can also be read for a much deeper understanding into the craft of writing up through high school levels. Check it out- I bet you'll like it too!

Dickens' 'David Copperfield'. Had to read it in school - thought I'd give it a second chance. No. Sorry, I still don't like Dickens. There are other books I've read twice, but Dickens sticks in my mind, or maybe my throat.
I've read most of John le Carré's books more than once, because I don't get the full picture the first time round.

I've read all of David Eddings' fantasy series (The Belgariad, The Mallorean, the Elenium etc) at least 8 times - I love them! I've also happily reread the Janet Evanovich Plum series, quite a few Dean Koontz books and all of Bill Bryson's travel writings. Oh, and Agatha Christie is always strangely comforting, despite the murderous story lines.
