Get a hot water bottle to put on your lower stomach, this will heat up those muscles and help them to relax. Also drink lots of water and cut back on caffeine. I would also recommend that you get your iron levels checked. For some reason this can have a very big baring. For me I have to take iron supplements and if I have a really bad cramps I know my iron is low and if I take a little more I have no cramps. You should talk to you doctor about this though because if you take too much iron it can be harmful. All the best. = )

Ibuprofen is good as it is an antiinflamatory. If it goes on month after month you should see a doctor. There are lots of prescription meds that can help. My doctor put me on birth control pills and that helped me. Try the ibuprofen which comes as a store brand or is Advil or Motrin. Take 600mg every 6 hours. Take with food to avoid stomach problems. I hope this helps. I never got any relief with Pamprin or Midol. I am not beyond the age of the period and so grateful that I don't have it anymore. You know if men got cramps there would be a government study to find a cure!!! Try rasberry leaf tea it works too.

Well, periods can be heavy and painful in your teenage years especially for some girls. I know I've been there. Good thing - it gets lighter and better with age.
What I would highly recommend is going to a gyno and getting on a birth control pill that will make your period lighter and less painful. After I started taking Yasmin, my periods went from 5-6 days to 3 days and the bleeding was light. I had no cramps at all... didn't even know I was having a period. I've been off the pill for 3 years now and my period is now on average 4 days, never as bad as pre-pill... soemtimes I get pains but not that bad.
What used to work for me was taking 2 midol at once or 2 ibuprofen. Doing crunches used to make the cramps better. Also, try to avoid using tampons when your cramps are at their worst... you want the blood to flow out not be tucked in with a tampon.

I take Midol-Extra Strength and use a heating pad, I also try to drink lots of water, and this usually helps relieve the cramps. I too used to get extremely painful cramps then I did a little research and used info (from various sites) that worked for me. Just one of the many pleasures of being a woman!!

I usually take Ibuprofen and the good old hot water bottle can still work wonders. Try to relax through the pain and get your focus onto something else.

Good luck

My first question to you will be do you wear tampons? If yes, I would almost bet that maybe you have a tampon stuck inside of you. YES this does really happen. Call your obgyn and set an appointment to have that looked into. If thats not the problem maybe you should try getting on birth control, that would help with the pain.

Try warm compresses, or a warm bath or shower if you are able. Also, avoid caffeine and other stimulants as they will increase the cramping.

Well, for bad cramps, try ibuprofen it really works! Stay away from salt and caffine, and drink lots of water.
