I need to copy data files and pictures from my old computer that has Windows98 and have been unable to find compatible hardware. I looked into flash drives, but none our compatible with Win98.

Most flash drives ARE compatible with Windows 98, BUT they do require a driver. Check with the flash drive you are interested in and see if a windows 98 disk is included. If not check the drive manufactures web site and see if one is available for download.
Windows 98 drivers are normally easy to install and you only have to do it once, then Windows 98 will recognize the drive just like XP does.

Almost everything is compatible with win98 if you have the drivers I use my danelec usb drive all the time with the old win98 boxes that are being upgraded..The usb flash drivers are usually available from the manufacturers website. Download what you need and drop it onto a floppy and plug in your device..when it looks for drivers just direct it to your floppy....Same with cdr/rws..dvdrw ect. good luck

I'd look on eBay. Most newer equpment most likely will work, they just don't advertise Win 98 as it's almost a 10 year old technology.
