Do this:
Kilogram - Hectogram - Dekagram - Gram - Decigram - Centigram - Milligram.
The above will determine how many decimal places you will move the decimal point.
Your question: 1 kilogram is how many in grams?
Using the above sequence, start at KILOGRAM then count how many times you will move to get to GRAM.

pound is unit of weight , too.
1 pound = 453.592 gram
1 kg = 1000 gram
= (1000/453.592 ) = 2.2 pounds
