Are talking about 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'. It is about the war in Spain before WW2. A love story, war story and betrayal, all that makes for a good movie and not a bad book.

Do you mean "For Whom the Bell Tolls" by Hemingway? It is excellent, I recommend it highly.

I've read the poem by john Donne where " for whom the bell tolls" is in the final line in "No man is an island".

It's very good. One of Hemingway's best. If it helps, there's a fabulous movie with Ingrid Bergman.

It is a very good book although it does start off a little slow., just stick with it tyou will glad you did.
