I agree. If I did not have passion about what I do, then I would give up easily. My life needs to mean something to me and no matter how well I do, as long as I'm passionate about it, I'll be happy.

Since this is under "Homework Help", you may want to take the opposing side - from the majority of answers you have here. If this is an assignment, your instructor will get the same reply as the rest of these answers, and it may be refreshing if you can argue the other side.
For instance, many people can do well in life, and yet, not be passionate about what they do. We all know someone who is good at doing something, but don't want to put their life passion into it. You can be a good lawyer or accountant, but not feel passion in your work. How many people have jobs, but their passion lies in writing or art or music? I know a professor who is a great scientist, but if he had his druthers, he'd be playing his guitar full-time. I know another man, who is passionate about his basketball playing, but wasn't exactly an NBA star, so his occupation is something else.
Personally, I feel blessed that I my life's work and my passion are one in the same. I know I am lucky, because very few people are as fortunate as I am.

It's a law of the universe that you get out of something what you put into it. Passion makes it easy to put in a lot of time, energy, and focus. It's like an energy generator.
However, determination, focus, endurance, and fortitude will also do the job. They are not quite the same thing as passion but they can serve the same purpose: motivation.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that statement, as true as it sounds. You don't have to be passionate to do well in something, all you need is ability, as exemplified in one of my friends.
The only thing he's passionate about is riding his dirtbike and sleeping. He slacks off in school and is about one of the most lazy people I've ever met in my life, but he usually comes out with the top score on any test that he takes.
There's no passion there, just ability and memory.

Absolutely. You can't excel at something that you don't care about. If you don't have a passion for something, you'll never be happy or successful.
