If you want to show off a tan I would definitely wear white, but make sure that you have a good tan first or it will just make you look paler. I usually wear a dark bikini at the beginning of a holiday if I am not tanned and white after I have a tan. I also wear a white top to fly back in and when I am first back, but hey I'm just shallow that way.

Just don't go for white or black.
Black absorbs the sun light, so you'll be hot in a way you didn't expect, and white is see through when wet!

white usually makes you look more tan... that is if you have a little bit of a tan. also yellow can make you look very tan.
