The only reason there is any suspicion towards the Islamic community is the unwavering and constant scapegoating the media and several politicians use to shift the blame.

If we use the widely accepted definition of a terrorist as "someone who terrorises or frightens others", then does Bush not fit into the category?

It is true that many recent terrorist attacks have been acted out by Muslims. This does not mean there is anything wrong with the religion, or the sheer majority of its members: it, like almost all religions, preaches peace and love. One of the main reasons the so-called terrorists are commonly Islamic, is that it is Islamic countries that are being attacked and occupied.

I am very concerned that this is going to increase over time. While I do not think that all Muslims are extremists, it is a little annoying to see large numbers of Muslims protesting against Rushdie's knighthood. I do not find similar enthusiasm shown in protesting against the extremists' activities.

There is no question that Britain's record in not just the Middle East but elsewhere as well is very bad - but that was a half century ago. Moreover, the current extremists are not carrying out a reprisal for past atrocities - more for present disagreements with the nature of Western society and support for a rather nebulous concept of jihad.

Ultimately, non-extremist Muslims groups must come out and forcefully reiterate their acceptance of a liberal society in which many people will carry out practices that they might disagree with. If they don't, there will be no counter to the likes of Al Qaeda.

I agree that not all muslims should be tarred with the same brush, however they don't seem to do anything to stop these assumptions arising. If any thing they make it worse. Look at the riots when Salmon Rushdie was knighted. Muslims seem to be extremist by nature and jump at every little thing. Thats bound to get the backs up of those British who have had to put with it because of being afraid if being called racist or blasphemous.

But in the light of recent events, it would appear that most terrorists appear to be Muslim, instead of (what most people think) which is most Muslims are terrorists. They are two very different statements.

I was having this discussion this very morning with my partner whom has become well a tad racist in thinking that all muslims are the same. Which i found infuriating I am white british but i very much believe that there is good and bad in all races of people. The extremists are not true Muslim and those who are honest law abiding Muslims should not be made to feel undervalued or hated in any way as this is just people being narrowminded and racist. A few examples of evil white people Rose West Myra Hindley Beverley Allet my point being its not a particular race or faith its just pure evil sods.

remember too, not all terrorists are Muslims. The bombing in Oklahoma city a number of years ago, killed hundreds, and good many of them children, and it wasn't Muslims but white supremacists that did that. Bombings in Japan, that were not done by Muslims but by Japanese people protesting what they saw as the oppression of their government, still they murdered their own innocent people and didn't get anywhere near the government officials they claimed to hate, so their actions couldn't even be called militant, they were terrorists.
Terrorism is not relegated to just one group of people, or one culture. It is a sociopathic mind set, and those who have it will use anything to do as they see fit, they will use religion, they will use politics they will use whatever they see fit because to them the ends justify any and all means.

Picking someone who looks like a terrorist from the entire muslim community by sight would be like picking a pedophile from the white British community by sight. There is no way to do it. And to suspect all people who fit the physical description of the ones that are caught is not helpful. The only way to catch offenders is by expressed behavior. White or Brown, there is no difference.

I am a white Brit and I do not hate Muslims, and have many good Muslim friends and colleagues.

HOWEVER, I see these atrocities happening and hear a deafening silence from the Muslim community, which contrasts with the enormous row you get if the slightest insult against Islam is perceived. So I find myself wondering whose side they are on.

I don't hate muslims but I hate Islam. It is a perverse and evil religion. As for the mad b@st@rd who drove the jeep into the airport:- they should have let him burn. If he wants to meet allah lets help him and stop treating him. If this was the USA they would have killed him as he got out but hey! lets not infringe his human rights. We'll probably charge the guy who decked him with assault next week. Good job people are suspicious or alot of people would be dead now.

I have read some of the answers on here and i think that the descent people who have written in.Think like a Democratic society. the only thing wrong with that is that in this country the Church and State are separate but in a Muslim country they are not.You are either a Muslim or your an infidel if you are the latter, you either. convert or your killed its as simple as that.
