Are there stores that buy used clothing? Or give you money for it after it's sold?
I recently lost a significant amount of weight and now I'm left with tonsss of clothes that I can't wear. Some are brand new (still with tags) and some of them have only been worn once or twice. I heard there were "thrift stores" that would give you money for your clothing or take your clothing and sell it for you and once it's sold they give you money. Is this true? And if so... can someone please help in locate one in Kansas City Missouri. Thanks.

google or look in phone book under consignment, clothing consignment. I like in Texas and there are several places in the Dallas/FW metroplex.

I have gone to Plato's Closet, but I wasn't very happy with it. They don't give you very much and I tried to turn in name brands too and it didn't really help. You can also go to Good Will and they won't give you money off the bat, but hey it's a tax write off. Good luck and it must be rewarding to have to get rid of all those clothes!

Are there any Good Will stores in the KC area? That is where my wife and I take clothes we no longer want. We live in the St. Louis area. You take the clothes to them, then they give you a receipt that you fill out. You decide how much the clothes are worth and then use it on you taxes for that year. It is basiclly a tax deduction. It is not instant money in your pockets, but at least you end up getting something back.

But you have to have some really nice things or they don't want them.
