my girlfriends 01 Camaro, the headlights are very dull, and very hazy. I have Meguiars Plastic Polish, Fine and Medium Cut Meguiars Buffing compound, 2 Mother's Powerball polishing wheels, and various other things. I do a lot with cars, so I've got plenty of experience, and the tools to do it with, but I just want to make sure I do it right. I've tried just the plastic polish, and it didn't clear up the heavy haze, but I've heard any buffing compound with even light abrasives will make them worse. I've taken very fine scratches out of platics before, but never this haze before, so a little help would be great! Thanks a lot!

I had the same problem about a year ago. I used Mother's aluminum polish. Although it did not make it perfect, it definetly helped. I am actually surprised that the Meguiars Plastic Polish did not help. You may try another coat of that.

I use a soft cloth buffing wheel on a grinder. I also use fine jewelers rouge. It will be the white grade. Coat the wheel with the rouge and then buff the lens, does a good job. Basically it is the same thing as that Flitz compound they sell on TV. good luck.

there are kits that are starting to come out from different companies like Everwear and matco tools that offer different ways to clear the lens. The matco version uses an attachment for a drill that buffs it clean, the everwear version uses 1000 grit sandpaper to clean it off and then a chemical that you use afterwards that seals the lens like wax for paint that prevents the haze from coming back.

Check with Napa auto parts or Carquest. They have a treatment for this problem. Or you can put a electric buffer to it.

good luck
