I don't advertise...but i do not lie either. I play the pro noun game with some people and others generally figure it out when they see pictures at my desk or slip and refer to her has my wife. I'd rather people get to know me for who i am not and who i love.

While it is not the first thing out of my mouth to co-workers it is something I mention at the end of an interview. When given the time to ask questions I say something along the lines of,
"Even though this has nothing to do with my work habits I need to let you know I am gay. I tell you this because I know that there are SOME people in the world that simply cannot deal with a gay person. I don't want to be employed by a company and then find out that my supervisor or co-workers are disturbed by my presence. I don't bring it into the work place but it is a part of my life. If I would disrupt the work environemnt I would really just rather not be offered a job."
My statement is always well recieved and I get feed back that it is a very intelligent and thoughtful action on my part.

I have pictures of me and my fiance up all in my cubicle... people know I am a lesbian and it doesnt seem to bother anyone. :-) Although the big big boss (the General Manager of the whole company) thinks that my fiance looks like a bf.... when he asked if it was my bf... I just said my fiance... She did have her hair short and wutnot, but I dont think she looked like a guy. Lolz...
But I try to be pretty upfront about it... its hard sometimes because you never know how someone will react. :-) I usually have to tell right away because I moved to NJ from DE and people are always asking me why... and I say my fiance... and they say "How nice when are you and HIM getting married?"... I have to politely say "Her... and we havent set a date yet."
:-)

You could just call your girlfriend your "significant other" since that is what she is. It's more important to acknowledge her then her finding out and thinking you might be ashamed of the two of you. People should like and respect you for who you are not with whom you sleep with.
Would you look down on be because I'm straight??? It goes both ways. I respect others because I would like to get respect back. I personally don't care what somebodies sexual preference is as long as it's done between consenting adults.

LOL well its nice to hear that someone else uses the ol' she is my roommate bit. Well I work for a really big company and they are alot of gay people in it but we dont speak about it. I do call my gf my roommate but to some who I know and start to trust I do come out to, for instance in my department (outreach) only two people know and their are about 4 others in it that do not know. In time i will tell them if i feel the need to but its really a touchy subject.

I dont. Only because of where I work. I know I woldnt be treated the same as i am by some of the older men/women in the office.
I had no problem telling those people I grew close to, who I knew wouldnt judge me.

Only a few people at work know I'm bisexual ... I have a fiancé so things look quite normal from the outside ... what they don't know is the secret trips to the Strip Club me & my man take or the fun parties I get to grab boobies and be a little adventurous ... lol ... most of the people I work with are old anyway - so they really are close minded & a little prudish ... haha ... !

No at my current job I didn't like announce it when I started to anything. I slowly started telling people and I don't think everyone here even knows. I just figure it's not really their business and I honestly try not to talk about myself too much. Too many people who are super religious and I don't want to get a beat down with Bibles at lunch... :)

I don't run in announcing that I'm a gay grrl. But if someone asks me I'll tell them. I never play the 'pronoun game' and I never lie. They figure it out eventually, and if they don't like me, it's their problem.

What you do in your private life is just that. private. I don't tell anyone at work about the people in my life. I do refer to my boyfriend (when I have one) as a friend. If the figure it out, fine, if not, then that's fine too.
