Definitely! We as Americans have become so spoiled and materialistic. It seems like everyone is working and running around stressed out all the time so they can have the bigger house, the better car, the right schools, etc. It's like a race to see who can get the most stuff. It drives me crazy as I watch the news and see so many poor , homeless people in our own country and around the world. We are so blessed to have anything we could possibly want or need at our fingertips and to have the freedoms we enjoy as well. I think most people take those things for granted. We should all slow down a little and take a look around to see what we can do for others. Get back to basic values, family & friends, God and country.

Yes. When a society at a whole can't even leave their TV's at home (i.e the Iphone) that's when you know we are tres tres materialistic. But honestly I think the whole entire world is very materialistic. But that's how society is, and without materialism we wouldn't have the advances of technology we do. So to answer your question, yes we are materialistic, but to a point, it's not a bad thing.

No. I think we cannot say all of Americans. I have met a lot of American people who have simple life in my country ( Thailand). So people cannot judge all Americans are materialistic. However, the American society seems to be complicated and people have high income so generally others may think of materialism according to their consumption.
