I saw the movie Eragon when it came out and thought it was very interesting. Who wrote the book, as I hear it is much different and better than the movie? And what other authors write a similar genre?

Christpher Paolini wrote the book.
i havent seen the movie yet but i hear that the book is better and i did read the book and it is just wonderful. if u wish to read then do read the second part as well, its called eldest. the third and final part also has to be out sometime later.
and if u r interested in books of these types then u may enjoy lord of the rings, harry potter , n the others...

Christopher Paolini wrote Eragon, and he wrote in his teens. I think that's pretty good. Ditto to the J.K. Rowling and Tolkien, especially The Hobbit. I would start with The Hobbit.
