I am in Atlanta and am very frustrated with my AT&T Dsl service. Everytime it rains the dsl goes down. Does anyone have this problem with Comcast ? Or can anyone recommend another company ???

Comcast does not offer DSL. DSL requires a telephone line, and if those lines are exposed anywhere, you can have issues with water getting into the lines. Look around your neighborhood for a junction box that isn't closed completely, or that isn't horizontal anymore, especially if you have a hum or crackle on your voice line after rain.

What Comcast offers is cable broadband, which is typically faster than most companies' DSL service, but also more expensive. It also tends in many places to be a bit more resistant to water intruding into the line, but this is more true in places with newer line and equipment.

Many of the Atlanta problems are legacy infrastructure issues from a previous company; unfortunately, since they seem to be fairly widespread, it will probably take awhile to track them all down and get them corrected, even with people reporting in; intermittant issues like your own DSL problem are the hardest type to pin down, just like any other electrical short.

I would recommend that you at least take a look at some other DSL options out there and do a quick search on the customer reviews of other DSL providers. I'm not fond of anything Comcast related right now.

I've been without high speed Internet access since June 4. I've called them at least 4 times each week since the 4th of June and they blatantly lied to me just to get me off the phone. We have had 3 different service guys come to the house and each time they come its some thing different wrong that they cannot fix. The most recent is that they have to dig up the line but cannot do so until the city marks our property so they know where to dig I assume. That I was told takes 10 days then they need an additional 3 days to do what they need to do to the lines.

That puts me in the middle of July before I get my Internet access again. Along with that they said that they would pro-rate my bill and charged me the same amount.

I'm actively looking for another ISP right not because this is ridiculous. Just be cautious if you choose Comcast, there customer support has been terrible in my experience.

i've got had Comcast and even have Embarq DSL. between the two Comcast substitute into the worst. i substitute into continuously dropping the internet and that they have been a sprint aggitating to handle...continuously passing the greenback to what got here approximately..i think of they simply might desire to get new modems for their internet purchasers. Who is familiar with..have not had one subject with Embarq. My speed is large and that i'm purely subscribed to point 2. good success.

I've seen (in many places) reports of poor service from AT&T, not just physical, but also human. I've heard of same on several webmaster sites of which I'm member, and in fact it was one of the reasons many hesitated to buy into iphone (which is tied into AT&T). I'd go Comcast if that's your only choice.

But, chances are, if you can get AT&T, in your location, you can also get covad. If you can, then in my opinion, if it's less $$$ than Comcast, that should be your choice! In my experience: Tech support is excellent, installation is a breeze, uptime is good, and there's no bundled software crap to install - just a simple connection. The last was a VERY BIG selling point in my opinion, but also, covad was the least expensive in my area. Very big bang for the buck.
