NFL QB. Really what is the comparison. Fine the NASCAR Driver has to go 500 miles of driving like that and their is some skill. They have to be able to steer the car but that isn't anything to compare to the athletics of being an NFL QB.

Obviously, a Nascar driver needs to have tremendous stamina and nerves of steel. However, an NFL quarterback in today's game requires a great deal more athleticism and skill than a Nascar driver. I cannot imagine what it must be like to have a 300 pound lineman running straight at you trying to break you apart as you stand in the pocket waiting for the receiver to break free. The window of opportunity when it comes to decision making is very small in the NFL and closes quickly. A quarterback needs to be in excellent shape to take the beating game in and game out.
The only exception I have seen over the years was Sonny Jurgensen. He had a little pot-belly but his skill at passing was so good that he didn't need to move much. His pocket presence was among the best.

Athlete? Probably the QB. Sportsman? It's pretty even. The physical beating that a driver takes strapped into a stock car (that doesn't stop for more than 15 seconds at a time, no half-time, no quarter breaks) for over three hours is no less than a QB takes in a game. And the stress of maintaining control of a vehicle traveling between 100 and 200 mph for that length of time is surely no less than what a QB has to do. One more thing--how many QB's take a very real chance of getting killed
each and every time they take the field?

I have to agree with the majority in saying that NFL quarterbacks are more athletic, however I have seen some drivers cut a pretty good backflip after winning a race.

i'm going to agree with everyone that an NFL QB is the better athlete. but, i will disagree with most opinions on a nascar driver. i believe they are athletes.

how many fat guys do you see driving a race car? there is a lot of strength, endurance, and athletecism that go into driving a race car. it's not only the driving, but it's also the forces on the body, the endurance, and the conditions.

i daresay your mom couldn't drive a car at well over 100 MPH for 500 miles without her arms giving out on her...she'd be lucky if that was all that gave out to be honest.

HAHAHAHA... have you seen some of the flubs that call themselves drivers... NASCAR is a sport I agree, and the heat in the car causes fatigue, but I would love to see a nascar driver stand up to a blindside hit by Urlacher, and Big Ben proved last year on his motorcycle that QB's can handle hard wrecks so that would be claim isn't valid.

I would say an NFL QB, but those NASCAR guys are pretty tough. You wouldn't catch me in one of those cars where the track temperature can reach over 150 degrees for some 3 + hours.

By far the quarterback.Nascar requires some elbow grease and strategy and alertness. But NFL QBS HAVE all the elbow grease, strategy plus the endurance and athletism then NASCAR drivers.

Driving fast is really hard to do and requires excellent athleticism. If Tom Brady weren't such a lazy unathletic scrub, he'd sit in a car and drive fast. I'm sure Jeff Gordon would be the greatest football player of all time, if he was into SPORTS!!!!

I'm sure you detect the sarcasm in my response to this ridiculous question. Are truck drivers better athletes than NASCAR drivers? They drive all day, 6 days per week, and have 20,000 pounds they are pulling!
