I have an Ubuntu CD (Downloaded Ubuntu, burned the image to a CD) and I want to install it. The problem is, my PC doesn't boot froom CD! I tried setting the primary boot device to CD in bios, but it fails. It starts booting from CD and then Windows boot menu shows (Run normally, Safe mode, etc...)
Can you help me install Ubuntu?

I burned it correctly, not the .iso file, but files contained within the iso compilation. I used nero.

Depending on your pc specs you may want to try xubuntu, it runs better on legacy hardware, legacy meaning anything slower than a 2ghz based system. If this doesn't apply to you I would re-download the ubuntu iso anyway, it may be bad, then burn it again at 24x and try it again. I've been running it for a couple of years without any issues at all.

How did you burn the .iso image. When you look at the CD in Windows does it list a couple of folders and a massive sqfs file or is it just one file?

If you only have the .iso file on the CD then you have merely copied the file instead or burning it. When you burn an .iso file it extracts files and folders to disk.

This will probably explain why you cannot boot from it.

Download an .iso burner from Alex Feinman's site.

Best guess, you didn't burn Ubuntu properly, it is an ISO image.
