Terrorism is defined as "A group or individual using fear to get what they want". In this case, the news uses fear/threats to get people to watch thier shows, which means thier ratings go up, and they get more money.
The jeep in Scotland was supposedly driven by some sort of terrorists, but I think they were really just idiots pissed off about something. Yet, the media will use it to blow something out of proportion. They use EVERYTHING to blow things out of proportion.
Remember the VTech shootings? Less than 7 hours after it happened, they were already debating gun control and school safety, which of course made all the schools freak out. There were plenty of questions on here like "OMG, is it safe 4 me 2 go 2 skool tmorrw??". The answer is of course, the same as it always is. Its pretty safe, unless something happens. The only reason they reported on the few incidents afterwards was because they wanted people to be scared more.
Trust me, if there was a serial killer on the loose, they would report on the murders in your city like CRAZY. They only report on what they want so they can use the reports to say what they want.

Yes. Even though all the media can tell us about now is Paris Hilton getting out of jail and terror attacks, that is what a lot of the world wants to see. It's not just FOX, NBC, or ABC, but every media facet; even my local newspaper tells of the world falling apart around us, then on the backpage in tiny font is the good stuff about our community. While the media is spreading fear and telling us the end is near, that's what people want to hear because it's human nature. The terrorists' main goal is to strike us down with fear, and sadly enough the media's negative bias and lack of attention for the good in life is giving them aid for that cause.

They hype everything up and string everything out to sell more news papers thus making more money. Thats money made from terrorism, terrorists fund the media. The lovely media make money from terrorism.Terrorists try to strike fear into the public so the media helps them out and does it for them. They're both as bad as each other. They shouldn't give them the time of day.Ignore the bas;'t ds

I think so. I think they do more to spread fear and hatred and misinformation than any real terrorist could hope for. right down to the weather report. How many times have you been awakened by the threat of ice and bad weather conditions to realize that was not the case at all.

Completely and totally. I turned the news off after about 5 minutes yesterday. All they are doing is spreading fear and taking attention away from the real news, thousands of our guys dying in Iraq, $3 gasoline, Cheney's crimes, etc. etc.

Reason is the antidote to fear... But it takes a strong and courageous individual to distinguish between the two. It's not at all easy.

exactly - that's why terrorists commit terrorism - to cause fear
if we act afraid (like the Bush administration is doing) - then we just fall into their hands. The way to combat this is to not be afraid.

That story is so bogus. They keep acting like it was FULL OF EXPLOSIVES. It was Gasoline folks. A Cadillac Escalade has more gasoline in it than these clowns were trying to ignite.
