It would be the news my cold, republican heart has been waiting to hear, but sorry, folks, it ain't so. First, you can discount anything Hewitt has to say on the matter, but you don't even have to go to that much trouble. As a member of the court - the Royal Court, that is, the daily whereabouts of Diana, Princess of Wales were recorded in minute and meticulous detail. The records are public and can be examined by anyone who wants to see them (and they're published in The Times, anyway). The records are perfectly clear on this matter: Princess Diana first met (then) Major James Hewitt in the summer of 1986. As an officer in the Life Guards - the Royal bodyguards, so to speak - Hewitt's movements are pretty much a matter of record, too, and any claim that he met Diana earlier than the official record states can be regarded as fiction. Prince Harry was born on 15th September 1984. So, the theory that Harry is Hewitt's sprog, unfortunately, does not hold water.
There are other facts which militate against it. First, that scumbag Hewitt would sell his own mother's arthritis pills. He is already trying to flog Diana's love letters to him, despite the fact that they are copyright to her estate and cannot be published (though because of a quirk in the law the physical artefacts belong to him). Do you think that he wouldn't go for a story like that in a frenzy of tabloid cheque-cashing? What would stop him? The fact that his story could be shot to bits in a minute, that's what.
Second, could Harry have really gone through Eton, where sports are a compulsory part of the curriculum, and Sandhurst military college (not noted for the delicacy of it's physical activities) without one person somewhere, somehow, getting a sample of his DNA? It's not that hard to get hold of - a discarded bandaid, a hairbrush left in the bathroom, a sweaty facecloth, saliva or - ahem - any other bodily waste would do it. Do you think I am the first person to think of it? It would be the work of a moment to check the DNA against the Royal bloodline - Prince Phillip's DNA fingerprint is a on record, as he gave a sample in order to help identify the remains of the Russian Royal family. Nobody has done it, which in this case means it cannot be done.
So, sorry, conspiracy theorists but both fact and logic argue against you. It would be a great story and would cause utter devastation in the Royal Family (being illegitimate would prevent Harry's ascending to the throne, altering the succession, etc etc etc) and the scandal would be a wonder to behold, but it ain't going to happen.
Pity.

This is such an old and worn out question it is not funny.
Harry is the spitting image of the Spencer side of the family, if you have doubts when you get a chance look at the clip of her brother speaking at her funeral, wow does he look like someone we are talking about. I assume everyone who has answered has the exact same hair colour as their siblings and the exact same facial features, body structures etc, in addition I presume you are experts in genetics and not just reading trash mags and listening to rumours....Maybe I should mention my daughter has red hair, her father and I have both have brown, red heads run on my mother's side....do you know who old the comments get.....are you sure "Bob" is her dad, "did the milkman pay a visit", is she adopted, my ex was also in the military and then of course , he was on manoeuvres to long, the list is long and ridiculous and better yet most of these were said in her presence when she was younger how do you think that made her feel? My now ex and I basically learned to ignore them, though many a time we had to bite our tongues...I admire Harry for being a gentleman and not telling everyone who says that to simply pi*s off. The ones who say it deserve it. It it were not for Hewitt simply because he does not look exactly like William there would still be speculation comments and innuendo's just of a different nature

I must admit they looks remarkably alike. But Hewitt says he met Diana by the time Harry was already 2. As to the red hair it is a trait of the Spencers so there could be an answer. At least he's lucky enough not to look like Charles ;)
Anyway, if it's true or not that Hewitt is the father we'll never know because even if a paternity test were to be taken on James the Crown wound never let us know if he actually is the father. After all, what difference does it make? William's the one to get the Crown.

Okay, this whole James Hewitt rumor is getting on my nerves. I've read the biographies and listened to the documentaries and heard numerous people say that Diana didn't meet James Hewitt until AFTER Harry was born. I actually see a lot of Charles in him--in the eyes and nose. It must be really tough on him to take this kind of speculation. Can't we all just let it go once and for all? It was over twenty years ago, for crying out loud! And he's not next in line or second in line so unless something happens to Charles and William, you won't have to worry about Harry at all. Give the poor guy a break, PLEASE!!!

No, he does not look like Hewitt, He looks like Princess Dianas` brother, especially when he was the age that Harry now is, They were known as the red heads of Althrop. If you are suggesting what I think you maybe, then check back on the media coverage of Diana, and you will see that she did not even know James Hewitt untill sometime after the birth of Harry.

Appearances can be deceiving;just having red hair isn't enough to link the two.The physical similarities are not strong, either.Harry's eyebrow ridge is more like that of Charles and Philip, much more deepset than Hewitt's eyes.

This is Diana's father, Earl Edward John Spencer.

Here are Hewitt and Harry. James Hewitt bears a strong resemblance to Diana's father.Does that
make Hewitt a Spencer?
Harry looks like a Spencer.

Especially, Aunt Sarah.

Diana's mother and her children are not that alike, physically. It's possible to be a full-sibling and not have a resemblance to the rest of the group because genetics can be like a crap-shoot,the dice-game-of chance.I've studied biology and genetics and remember how chancey it can be!
Hewitt, also known as "The Love Rat" and "The Cad" unfortunately looks like a Spencer, which is now causing tongues to wag because of Diana's relationship with him...which happened after Harry's birth. The Queen does not believe that DNA testing is needed;Harry is a Windsor, and that is that!
Diana was not a stupid woman regarding her children;she knew how important it was to give her a husband an heir and a spare before embarking on any affairs of her own and at that time, was interested in making her marriage work.It wasn't until after Harry's birth that it became clear that the marriage was not turning out well and Diana started her affair with Hewitt.
And to answer another poster's query:yes, red hair is a recessive genetic factor on Charles' side of the family. Both his great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother had red to auburn hair--Queen Alexandra(from whom Philip is also descended,as well as the Queen),and Queen Mary.

If Charles & something of the relatives are chuffed to settle for Harry as Charles' son they what a probability employer might desire to or no longer it is of yours. You needless to say do no longer desire to have faith the fact so in high-quality condition your self. Have it your way. yet till now you pass spreading this crap from now on, take a good, long seem at Diana's brother, sisters & their families. Harry's colouring needless to say comes from the Spencer genes.

Not all siblings look alike. Did you see the videos of Diana as I child? I saw several children with red hair. (I don't know why it really matters. He was raised as Charles' son, who cares about biology)
Think about Harry. How would you feel if people went around saying that you weren't your father's child. That you were the result of an affair.
