I am fair skinned and I also burn in teh sun, and to be truthful, you would also burn on a sunbed!
I had a spray tan a few weeks back (trialling it out for my upcoming wedding) which did look good, but you cant go in the sun with them anyway as they will go patchy.
However, someone I know (who is very pale) has been using one of those moisturisers that slowly build up a little tan - she has been using Vaseline Intensive Care one, and I have to say she has a lovely glow about her. Why dont you try something like that.

You've actually left it a bit late if you are going away on Sunday. You could have gone on a sunbed starting off with just 4 minutes then building the time up to 10 minutes after 2 or 3 weeks which would have given you a base tan then you wouldn't burn so easily. St Tropez or Lancome or the Johnsons Holiday Sun moisturiser do a very good fake tan which you could use so that you are not the whitest person on the beach until you get a natural colour of your own. These are not substitutes for sun protection though and you need to start off with a minimum of factor 20 for the first few days of your holiday then reduce the factor gradually but I wouldn't go below 12 or 15 if I were you. Remember a sun tan isn't everything and have a lovely holiday!

I am a natural blonde, and I never tanned until I moved to Spain..spent many a summer with agonizing sunburns..now I am tanned all year round because I don't really spend a lot of time just laying around in the sun. It has to be done slowly. You will get a nice peachy tan which is nicest on fair skin anyway.. wear 30 the first week, and then once the danger of burning is overwith, lessen it gradually to a 15 or 12.. If you are only here for a week, wear 30 during the hottest times of the day.. where ya going anyway?

Eat a carrot every day - it gives you a nice sort of glow to your skin and you look more tanned. Don't go on the sunbed, it's not true that you don't burn if you have done that first. Make sure you exfoliate before your trip to get rid of the dead skin cells - that will ensure that your tan lasts longer. And do wear sun block - some rays will come through anyway and you won't burn as easily + tan will last longer. Have fun!

If you burn in the sun, you will burn in a sunbed. The best way to tan is gradual. because if you burn, it will peel right off and leave you with no tan. If you use a low spf it might keep you from burning and allow you a little tan. If you have skin like mine though, you will probably never get a natural tan. I use the moisturizers that gradually build a tan. They seem to help me build a natural tan when I sunbathe for short periods too. The darker your skin is, the more it will absorb the light and help tan you. So, you might just want to try supplementing with self tanners to see if they help you build something natural

You question doesn't leave many options! Basically it is sunbed or nothing. If you do go for the sunbed option take the lowest time going and try to avoid the ultra high wattage beds. If you go two or three times giving yourself 2-3 days between each one you should get some mild colouration without burning.
Don't be too embarrassed by your pale skin though. You will be surprised at how few people actually care.

Go to a tanning shop and go on a sunbed buy a sunbed accelaerator and use this.
And as for fake tan i have tried them all the only one that has never gone streaky, is the Avon Moussee and lasts for a good week, also when you get to the holiday, buy a glow for the evening but make sure it has a soother in also.

I just think you need to accept that you are the way you are, like the majority of British people. If you are going to go out in the sun then DO NOT get burned - your skin will only go slightly tanned, and only then after short periods in the sun over a longer time.

I am also fair skinned and i have got severely burnt countless of times just for all of my lovely tan to peel off! but i think i have found a solution to not getting burnt! firstly i use a factor ten or fifteen and i turn over every 15mins for an hour and than i stay out of the sun for an hour and then do the same again all day, that way you get a better colour straight away without resembling a beetroot first!

You can get a proffesional spray on tan at most good tanning salons that will last. I know you said no lectures and I'm not going to give one, but being fair skinned, your asking for trouble with your skin by using a tanning bed, or laying out.
*Have a good time in Spain!
