We have lost nearly 4000 men and women and have gained basically nothing in return. Iraq is now involved in a civil war that will not have a military solution because both sides have god on their side. Given the number of suicide attacks from both sides, death is no deterrent, but a sought after reward.
General Douglas MacArthur, hardly a wild eyed liberal said
"The powers in charge keep us in a perpetual state of fear, keep us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor with the cry of grave national emergency. Always there has been some terrible evil to gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it by furnishing the exorbitant sums demanded. Yet, in retrospect, these disasters seem never to have happened, seem never to have been quite real."
This might just show us the reason for the war in Iraq, the war on terror and the constant attention to illegal immigration.

despite no sources i have i leave u with food for thought. Iraq, unlike other wars in history, has no enemy. think about it. the war on terror? who is exactly we are fighting against? Saddam is long dead. It is like the vietnam war. the is no way of winning against an enemy that doesn't exist. as for the people fighting back against our soldiers, well if some foreigners came to my hood and started shooting you can bet i will fight back with no regards to my own personal safety. i have a family to protect.

We're spending hundreds of billions dollars, losing thousands of fine americans and exhausing the best military in the world all over a shiite-hole. We could have rebuilt every school in the US or provided health care for everybody in the country for the next decade with what we've wasted.
So are we losing? Depends on your values. By my values, we're losing.

People think that because Iraq's army was defeated by the USA and that the insurgents in Iraq are not heavily armed but our troops don't know who are the enemy now.

It is an occupation...the fighting that is going on is a civil war that will require a political solution, something our current administration is not able to help facilitate

because the media drives this message home everyday....tells the world how stupid our leaders are....and now the media is even allowed access to the front lines with our soldiers and able to badger the soldiers with questions relating to the political outcry at home....
