In late march my boyfriend, our roomate and I were all living together in a 2bedroom apt near Milwaukee. My roomate, who I thought at that time was a really good friend, called the cops to report us for paraphenalia in our home. It was a huge drama case but to make a story short, my boyfriend was arressted first for a warrant he had for a traffic ticket. They searched the apartment. I was freaking out outside calling people I knew for help. I had never ever been involved with the cops and was scared my boyfriend was being arressted. An officer came outside and asked who the bong belonged to and (even though it was not mine) I immediately said it was. This is why: My boyfriend was currently resolving a court case for a previous possession ticket which he was on a signiture bond on and I 'took the blame' for it thinking he wouldn't get in trouble for it. However, I was also arressted and questioned and we both got two possession of paraphenalia tickets out of the situation.

(him however more because now he was considered bail jumping and blah blah blah). So anyways, his ticket was $100 bucks for paraphenalia because he denied the bong was his. And because I admitted to it (even though it wasn't, I know I'm dumb) I got a $571 ticket. (WISCONSIN btw). Well, with my boyfriends prior case in current, the court agreed to drop the entire case that happened in march that involved me, if he would plea guilty and get probation for his possession of thc case he was in. This means his possession ticket he got the night with me was dropped and out the window. Now, I have court at the end of the month. I plead not guilty, which idk if I should have, but not I don't know what it going to happen on Friday, but I want to know if because he got the situation dropped without question, shouldn't I or how can i state my case maturely that could get it dropped or severely lessened?

And also, for those who say ditch the boyfriend...he is on 1yr probation. We moved and are doing well. We have not had a drink or done anything since the night of our arrest. I just want to get this out of the way and over with, and not hurt me in the future. I'm better than all that.

Talk to the judge in a mature and HONEST manner. Tell him why you lied to the officer about the bong.
The judge will consider your honesty and as you realize....by giving false information you make yourself liable with a possible penalty.
You don't want a prior drug or drug paraphernalia charge/conviction on your record....trust me!
Best wishes.

There is such a lot hypothesis and I marvel simply how a lot you learn within the papers is truthfully real. We all recognize that after newspapers wouldn't have a lot to file they generally tend to make matters up and exaggerate matters out of all share. I suspect that among the stuff they print is fabrication or natural rumour. How repeatedly do you learn "a supply almost the loved ones or the police". These resources are under no circumstances named and the rationale for it's that they don't exist. I are not able to see some thing being resolved till she is discovered whether or not lifeless or alive. I have most likely no sympathy with the McCanns in basic terms considering the fact that they left 3 kids on my own even as they went out having fun with themselves. I don't just like the circus they've created and the lengths they've long gone to. Why do they've most sensible attorneys each right here and in Portugal whilst they've no longer been charged? Why do they want an ex-govt spokesman who possibly does no longer fairly recognize the McCanns nor has any suggestion what went on in Portugal? Is he being paid a enormous quantity simply to preserve on announcing that any new hypothesis is garbage and unfounded? Good activity if you'll be able to get it! The entire crux of the problem is that the normal public has no suggestion whether or not the McCanns are worried or no longer. We will have got to wait and spot. I worry that except she is discovered there will likely be inadequate proof to cost the McCanns.

Been there....
You already said it was yours. You can pitch it to the judge but dont expect him to buy it.
Dont give him a long drawn out speech. Just a simple 1-2 sentence explanation.
If this is in fact your first run in with the law, then he will be more apt to feel sorry for you. Just explain that you were scared, etc. Like I said...in just a few short sentences though!
Also, bring the fine with you to court. He may reduce it, but he WILL expect you to pay. Some judges may give you a few days, but will charge you interest.
You may ask for some sort of intervention- PTI - pre trial intervention. You can do some sort of program that will lead you to get this expunged. It is a long process. Dont expect the judge to wave his magic wand. Even if for some reason you get off, your arrest record will still show that you have been arrested. Not good :(
You can take appropriate steps to make this situation better.
Stay on the right side of the law...it will haunt you forever if you dont.

It was foolish for you to tell the cops the bong was yours when it was not and what you admitted to can and will be used against you in a Court of Law.
It will depend on what the laws are in your particular state and prior criminal history as to what your penalties and jail time might be.
It would a very good idea to hire an attorney to plead your case down to a lesser charge (since you have already admitted the bong was yours to the cops) to get a reduced sentence or probation pending a drug counseling program being successfully completed.

I know my input won't help in your case, but I am so glad I live in Canada. Minor possession is nothing over here, for that matter the police have better things to do than run around chasing people for having a bong. War on drugs... might as well say war on freedom.

You are going to be hurt in the future because you lied and took the blame for something that wasn't yours. Now you have a criminal record. Aren't you proud of yourself?
You know what really gets me about this? Your bf claims to love you and yet he let you claim ownership over something that was his rather than be a "man" and tell the police it was his. That is NOT love dear but it's evident you don't want to see it and continue to wear blinders so, so be it.
You reap what you sow. I just wonder how many times things like this will have to happen for you to wisen up....

Unfortunately, you dont' get it. 1st off you made a really bad mistake by saying it was yours.... I guess the question is "did they read you your rights BEFORE the question?" That's about the only way to get out of it. I agree with the other folks. Your B/F is going to get you in serious trouble. This is just the tip of the iceberg. He doesn't make good decisions and, as is apparent, you don't either. Right now, you need to protect you, NOT HIM!!!.. simple as that

You can get it dropped ...... and replaced with a case of making false statements! You are better off sticking to the case you have an just plead guilty since your record is otherwise clean.

Well usually if it's just tickets there really isn't too much to worry about. Which had to have been misdemeanors and not felonies . In which I then would really not lose any sleep over it. Just don't make the mistake of taking things for granted anymore.

probably not - you confessed - my advice
ditch the boyfriend - stop doing drugs
employers look at things like that - you're going to have a hard time finding a decent job with a drug conviction
