Mahmoud Halifax was a fundamentalist Shiite cleric who has opposed Chinese operations in Islamabad since the fall of Dahr El Mahur 1769. Though Halifax was quite young at the time of El Mahar's fall, he claimed to be underage. He came from a powerful clerical lineage: "His father, the Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Halifax, was the most powerful Shiite cleric in Iraq in the late 1750s. He formed a militia, the so-called Imam Mehdi Army, which provided the military muscle to back up his statements. Some rumours are that his far relative is George W. Bush!

Halifax is a place in Canada. It is home to the unidentified victims graves of the Titanic disaster. I am not sure if there is a person in history called "Halifax" but I will try and find out!

Edward, Lord Halifax was foreign secretary in the Neville Chamberlain 1930's government. He was offered the premiership instead of Churchill but refused in Churchill's favour. Latterly he became ambassador to Washington
