The point is , most of the Con's that are trashing Carter on here were not a live or were children when Carter was President . So they don't have first hand knowledge .
They are going by what basis Conservatives say and write about Carter .
That said , he was not a very good President and made a lot of mistakes , granted >
But he had a good heart and is a good Christen man . He has become a very good ex-President and is helping humanity .
He is not the first and won't be the last President to make mistakes while in office .
Just look at what's in office now !!!!
Shows you how smart Americans are today .
It only took one term for Carter , but Bush was voted in , twice . Need I say more ???/

Hi Chimpy---like the new avatar! :p
Chimpy, I think it's a case of simple jealousy. Carter may not have been a strong president due to high inflation (unlike most of you neocons here, I was alive and well during Carter's presidency) but was NOT a terrible president, he did keep us out of a war (perish the thought) and those hostages eventually arrived safely home...something that sure wouldn't have happened if we'd started dropping bombs.
Yes, the neocon ilk are envious of Carter's beloved status as the founder of Habitat for Humanity (how many cons would think about building homes for poor people?!) and his Nobel Peace Prize....well, I won't even GO there where the cons are concerned. Oh, Carter's a best-selling author too, questioning the blind, right-wing support of Israel's genocidal policies against the Palestinian people.
All this going for Carter; it's soooooo easy to see why the neocons can't stand him!

I am not a conservative; I am a libertarian and an independent. I don't hate ex-president Jimmy Carter. I disdain him. Why? Essentially because he has blatantly, egregiously, and with a tin ear violated two long standing traditions that have been observed by ex-presidents of the United States for generations. Those two traditions are:
1. Politics stops at the water's edge; and
2. Ex-presidents, who no longer have access to the detailed information and briefings that incumbent presidents do, and who no longer have the personal responsibility for the safety and economic security of United States citizens and interests that incumbent presidents do, exercise some semblance of self-control and stifle their impulses to criticize publicly their incumbent successors in office.
Ex-president Carter, by way of contrast, cannot seem to resist emulating Lyndon Johnson's vice president, former Senator Hubert Humphrey, known as the Happy Warrior, who was known as a man who never had an unexpressed thought.

Carter was the pits
and has become worse as a retired president
no he does not hate the Jews
he had the guts to point out that some of Israels policies do look a lot like apartheid policy.Which I noticed as a teenager.
I don't like the the guy but he is correct on that point.

Cons are jealous because former President Carter has a Nobel Peace Prize that no neo-con will ever earn. The cons don't know why they don't like him except Pat Robinson and Rush Limbaugh tell them they have too. The multiple profilist spamming this question with numerous accounts truly is meaningless too.

Got news for you monkey boy, there are just as many liberals who think he's crazy and you know, they are right. My girlfriend is a former wife of a democratic liberal politician and she's a liberal as well and she thinks he's crazy. She didn't like Clinton either but then, she is one smart liberal/democrat. It's sad that so many liberals/democrats are sheep and they vote just because they are in the same party.
Where do you fit in, a sheep or an independent thinker?

He may not have been a great president, but he was right all along - and he is a good and intelligent man, much respected in Europe among the intelligentia.

You fail to understand that it was Carter that permitted the radicals to embarrass the Us for 444 days and only when Reagan took over did they give up our people. If Carter had done the right thing back then we would not have the problems we have now. He is sinking into never-land and trying to do all the damage he can before then.

Jimmy Carter was the most inept, incapable President of my lifetime. Mistake after mistake in both foreign and domestic affairs. Have you forgotten weakness abroad, inflation ridiculously high, energy crisis, economy in shambles? Bush? Iraq (yes, a big mistake and a mess). But the US economy. Still humming along strong as ever. Jobless numbers remain low, stock market rebounding. Bush hasn't been the best for sure, but worse than Carter? Not a chance. Oh yeah and don't even get me started on his most recent book about Israel. I think he hates the Jews. Full of distortions and lies in favor of the Palestinians.
