If there was a hard cap and it was $125 million could they compete based on their front offices alone. Are they smarter than all the other teams or just a by-product of being able to get talent by using more "Benjamins"? No team would have more to spend than those two teams just the same amount.

How would it change there approach and how ould they be able to adapt? The players they currently have under contract can stay but if their payroll is over the limit they can't add more players.

Good luck

Assume that baseball has its version of the Larry Bird rule. They have 2 years to complete. Who wins the 2010 World Series?

The more money you spend the better players you can sign, and there is no doubt about that. However, The Yankees are proving, once again, that there is not a direct correlation between the money you spend and championships. Money can buy great players but not necessarily a great team. Look at the United States Olympic basketball team and the problems they have been having winning games in world competition. The best players in the world and problems winning. Baseball is the same thing, it is not a game of 25 individual players trying to accomplish a task for themselves, it is 25 players coming together and giving themselves up for the team. This is what makes baseball so great, the team has to win to go to the playoffs and win a championship and that little ole' baseball has no idea how each player is compensated.

They can't compete now with 150 to 200 million payrolls. They have no farm systems and spend too much in free agency. Their Gm's are horrible. I think Torrie is the worst coach alive. All that talent and still they haven't done anything in years. Boston is basically the same. They will both struggle for years to come with aging players and huge contacts.

LoL, the only person who would probably restructure a contract to fit that 100 Million payroll is Jeter because he isn't a mercenary like the rest of the team is.

It would definitely level the playing field and they could not try and buy Championships like they do now. Arod and Jeter would have to take significant pay cuts to even play baseball anymore. This is the number 1 proponate to having a salary cap in baseball.
